Winthrop did beat G.T., Akron and Miami Fla. this year. They lost by 8 at Baylor and by 5 at Mississippi. I think they can hang with a Wash. St team that has been VERY INEPT on offense at times!

The lack of size and small school schedule may hurt them. I have seen them play twice this year, and they are a very smart and athletic team. Our local team has a 7' 7" kid that helped them bat Winthrop twice during the year. They adjusted and blew UNCA out in the tournament.

They are healthy and well rested. They have also been to the Big Dance before. Going to be fun to watch

Winthrop has great guard play and a bench. Two things needed against Wash St and their defense. The guard play makes me feel like they will be able to handle the pressure.

I can't wait to see the NIT lines. I love going against the teams that are mentally out of it from not making the tourney. And one of the big overblown issues in the NIT is 'home court' advantage for the larger schools. No one comes out to the Carrier Dome....

WOW---maybe I have to rethink this I would feel better if Winthrop was playing someone that isn't such a defensive team like Notre Dame!! I just feel Wash St. can keep this team at bay with thier D.

The only problem with Miami vs St Mary's is this. There is one key and only one key to that game.... Jack McClinton.

If that boy is on forget it Miami will win going away. If he is off, then he will shoot like 3-15 from the floor and Miami will lose. It is all about McClinton because he does not stop shooting whether he is hot or not. He is their whole team. I say a more complete team in St. Mary's will beat them by 6 or 7.

I think St Joes can win this outright. I think they have a lot of confidence after the A10 tourney, but will it carryover until Thursday?!
