  • Quietest 16-game win streak in sports history

Houston Rockets set a franchise record last night with their 16th straight win, breaking the old club mark of 15, which had been done three times.

It seems that noone outside of Houston has noticed, and detractors point to the easy schedule that has enabled it to happen.

    But did you know?
:::The Chicago Bulls 72 win team never had a streak this long.
:::The Rockets are 14-2 ATS during this time
:::The Rockets last seven victories have been by double digits, by an average of 17 PPG
:::The last four have been without All-Star center Yao Ming
::: The Rockets are #4 in scoring defense in the NBA
::: The Rockets are #2 in FG% defense in the NBA

Tonight's matchup at Dallas will be a stiff test, indeed, and with Dirk Nowitzki out ( suspension) and Yao Ming out, the playing field is level. Dallas has literally owned Houston of late, but something tells me this Rocket team is different, with rookies Scola and Landry forming a two-headed AllStar at PF, and McGrady and Alston at their best, while Shane Battier bottles up the best scorer on the opponents nightly.
You can't always get what you want, but if you try some time, you might find, you get what you need.

    Grandpa,

I agree, this streak is awesome. That is exactly why I would go with Dallas. The 14-2 ATS has to even out, just how vegas works. Once the public jumps aboard, time to jump off.

Look at New England Patriots their last 6 or so weeks ATS after he ridiculous cover streak they had.
    NBA is a joke

I believe houston wins this one...they are playing incredibly well together...i am a HOMER...but i thought they wouldnt cover against memphis at -13....then denver at -6...learned my lesson and went big on them last night against indiana at -10....decided i would not go against this streak, cause ive been burned by it a few times already...i say just ride it out and see how long it goes...

I see no point in trying to bet the winner of the first game they lose. Why bet against a hot team? There are better plays out there and teams that are actually struggling/fading. Better to wait until they prove they have cooled off and start going against them then. There will be several weeks of cool down time after amazing runs...Just look at Portland

              MLB 2008 (19-23-1) +3.0 units

              NBA 08-09 (10-7) + 1.59 units

              GOY (4-1)

26-9 ATS last 35 for Houston. Betting Axiom #1, Never ever Bet on a streak to end.

One can lose a lot of money going against this one, as anybody who has been fading Houston ( 8 straight ATS) just to say," I told ya so, this streak will end", can attest.

The streak will end, and maybe even tonight, but as Ogarza and Eljugo have posted, why not wait.

Besides, has anybody here been seeing any of these games? Nobody is playing harder and with more confidence in the entire league.

Not to mention Dallas will have to do it without their best player.
