Fantasy Baseball Keeper League

Hi Guys. I would like to start a 10 team fantasy baseball 3 year keeper league. This will be auction style drafting. There will be 5 supplemental picks at the end of the draft. Those players will have a 0 salary for year 1.

At the end of year 1, all salaries will go up by 25%. All $0 and $1 players will be $2 and so forth.

CBSsportline has a nice set up. it does cost $120 for the league which I would have no problem fronting but would like to get at least $12 from everyone.

We can make it a little amount of money per team or a medium amount. I would say somewhere between $25-$50 a team plus the $12 fee the league charges would be fair.

I would not like to be the one to hold the money since no one really knows me. I would set it up and act as commissioner the first year. If we can get 10 people I would even be up for a free league. Please respond here with thoughts/ciomments.

I think setting up a chat room where everyone was able to make it one night would have to be the only way.

There would just have to be some kind of agreement that not everyone is posting bids at once ya know.

well basically you have a Cap limit for your team each year. After the season begins you can go $20 over the cap at the most. The Cap will raise 25% each year to coincide with player salaries.

You get most of your team back the second year(assuming you drop some players). Just another twist onto the regular fantasy league.

I've heard of keeper league's. It just gets confusing having to buy players and all, especially over the net. It makes it much tougher.

I think these leagues are way more fun than the regular leagues, so much more strategy, but Wayne's right might be tough to keep in going or even get it started on the net. Those kinda leagues you need to do with your 9 best friends.

Basically. I have one with some people already but would like a second. I think we can make it work if we are all willing to take the time one night to draft.

The first draft will be the longest, but from then on it will be much easier.

What are you going to do though, mail somebody 2 or 3 dollars each time you want to pick someone up?

GL with that. CBS is really tough to deal with in these league's. At least that has been my experience.

Ok here it goes: I have reserved a league for us. Cost is $130.00 There is a $50 refund that I will receive at the end of the year so cost is only $8 a team.

The draft is done web based. There will be a pre-draft order and each person will be allowed to pick a player to be bid on. The person bidding the highest wins that player.

Each team will have a pre determined salary cap. You will need to fill your team within that cap.

As far as free agent picks up go. There does not have to be any fee for doing so. We can set up a rule so that only for injuries is this allowed. Or there will be a limit on how many you can have per year.

I say for the first year we do the following.

Rotisserie style
$25 fee +$8 for the league so $33 in total
10 teams, top 2 get paid.
No free agent fee if you stay under the limit.
$185 salary cap limit.

These can all be discussed before the draft. So lets get going guys!! I only have 30 days for a full refund so let me know as soon as possible if you want in.

One questions.... would it be ok if everyone sent the payment to you? I dont know anyone well enough to hold onto it and I know everyone trusts you as you have done many of these before. Just don't know if you would like that responsibility or not.

You are supposed to run any league or pool here by Monte before starting one. He is the site owner and anything involving money and his members here should be approved 1st by him
