So there is practice and qualifying today correct? People are split on whether practice/qualifying mean much, but I think here it may tell some thing.

Also, Newman loses his Daytona car right? But everyone is using different cars this week or do they just remove the restricter plates?

Practice is going to be huge for me picking today and always will.Testing sometimes can be deceiving because some aren't that fast because there testing all kinds of different things.Practice on the other hand is about making changes but for the most part the car is already set up.Newman does lose his car for a year but I dont know what cars they will be bringing.I would think it would be the same or close to it.

I'm wondering how the Yota engines will hold up this weekend. This will be a lot bigger test on them than Daytona was

I agree. They didn't seem to have any trouble at testing though and probably ran a shit load of laps. It's going to be tough on these tracks and the 11/2 mile to pick a winner.Hamlin ran so good at pocono in the old car and should have won 2-3 short track races in the COT last year so I kinda like him and Kyle(named after my ole Buddy here)seems to like California and lets face it although reckless he can drive a racecar on any track.

Why will it be a bigger test?

43 Cars run on a track that is only 4 Furlongs? Hell, Even Fairplex is bigger than that.

So, Belmont Park is bigger than most Nascar Tracks.

So with Qualifying cancelled and lineup done by owner points, does anyone think this greatly impacts the race, as the pole winner I think barely wins this and I think of late the winner and many of the top 5 finishers have come from outside the top 10 starting positions?

Higher RPM's. Just completely stressing out the engine. California is probably the toughest track out there on an engine.

I don't think it will matter much. You'll still see guys starting in the back coming to the front, like JJ, Gordon, and Kenseth.

So have to run at higher RPM, a strain on engine, fine. The Toyota all run their own Engines? I have seen a lot of writing about other teams running Hendricks engines how do I find out who, are the just Chevy I assume? Also didn't the Toyotas come to Cali for testing?

I guess that is what I am saying JJ and Gordon are 1 and 2. So not sure that is good for them with guys coming from the back historically here.

Oh, that's right. They are using last year's owner points to start the field. No then, I don't think they are worried

Definitey think the winner will come from the top 15 spots or so.
