HACKETT UPDATE: USC sophomore point guard Daniel Hackett was told on Tuesday that he has a stress fracture in his lower back as well as a partially-torn oblique muscle. While surgery is not necessary, no timetable has been set for his return. "The way it was laid out to me, there is a scenario where he won't play this year," Coach Tim Floyd said. "We're going to approach things like he won't be out here and be hopeful that he returns at some point. I don't know when that will be."

MAYO UPDATE: USC star freshman guard O.J. Mayo suffered a strained groin during Wednesday's practice. Although Mayo did not practice Thursday, he did practice on Friday and proclaimed himself ready to go Sunday against UCLA.
