Mel Kiper Jr's top six NFL draft prospects..........

6) Sedrick Ellis DE USC-- Trojans are loaded with NFL-type talent; this guy is one more off the assembly line.

5) Chris Long DE, Virginia-- Howie's son won't get past #2; Rams will take him if Miami doesn't.

4) Jake Long, OT, Michigan-- Mixed reviews; some scouts firmly believe he is overrated.

3) Matt Ryan QB, Boston College-- Teams that draft high have bigger needs; history shows you can get QBs later in draft, or even off scrap heap (Brady-Warner-Anderson).

2) Glenn Dorsey DE LSU-- Was dominant until dirty block in the Auburn game KO'd him. Logical pick if Miami keeps #1 slot. Will have to show his leg is OK at Combine.

Its mid-February, I’m tired of snow, cold, ice, hearing about ballplayers testifying before Congress. Here are thirteen on-field storylines to follow for the 2008 baseball season……….

13) Can Johan Santana help Mets forget September of 2007? (For $21M a year, he better)

12) Can Dusty Baker revive the Reds? (He needs to find some pitchers who throw ground balls)

11) How do the A’s not lose 100 games? (Rich Harden has to stay healthy, and then other things have to happen)

10) How good are Tigers going to be? (Can Dontrelle Willis bounce back after a rough ’07?)

9) Can Japanese import Fukudome get Aramis Ramirez more good pitches to hit? (Cubs could score an awful lot of runs if he does)

8) How will Giants do without Barry Bonds? (Their outfield will be much better defensively)

7) Can Pirates keep fans interested until the Steelers’ training camp opens? (Not optimistic on this one)

6) Will Adam Jones play well enough to justify trading Erik Bedard to the Mariners? (There is no justification for trading a good young pitcher)

5) Can Rocco Baldelli get/stay healthy? In last two years, he played total of 127 games, and hasn’t played in big league game since last May 15. Rays brought in Cliff Floyd this year; he’s played more than 113 games once in last five years, so those two should get along great.

4) Can Charlie Manuel get Phillies off to a fast start? (He better, because the Mets are a lot better now)

3) Will Indians be forced to trade CC Sabathia? (Hopefully no; realistically, yes)

2) How will Rockies fare with targets on their backs this year? (NL West is really tough).

1) Joe Torre managing in LA; Joe Girardi in the Bronx;. How weird is that going to be? (Very.)
