Books Get Bopped After hinting at it all week, official numbers now confirm that the Nevada sports books lost money on this year's Super Bowl. The books collectively lost $2,573,103, which works out to 2.8% of the $92,055,833 wagered. The loss ended a run of 12 consecutive years of winning and marked only the second time in 18 years of keeping the records that the books lost. The other loser was the 1995 Super Bowl, when the 49ers trounced the Chargers to beat the bookies for $397,000. The $92 million handle was also a disappointment for the casinos, as not only was the expected $100 million mark not approached, but the total fell about $1 million short of last year.
