Pick 'n' Roll: Tuesday's NBA picks
              ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Phoenix Suns at Milwaukee Bucks (7.5, 215.5)

The Suns won their fifth consecutive home game on Sunday night, beating the struggling Nets 116-92. They now take a three-game overall winning streak into a road trip that starts against the Bucks on Tuesday.

Phoenix will get a further boost with the likely return of forward Grant Hill who missed the past seven games while recovering from an appendectomy. Hill is averaging 15.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game and he scored 20 points in his last game before being sidelined.

Even if Hill doesn't make his comeback, bettors can be confident that the Suns will win against the spread. They have covered in three straight games, winning by an average of 16.6 points over that time.

              Pick: Suns

New Jersey Nets at Sacramento Kings (-5.5, 201)

The Nets have dropped five straight games, failing to cover in all of them. They lost by an average of 15.6 points over that stretch and are now 15 games behind the Boston Celtics in the NBA Atlantic.

Things are not about to get any easier as they head into the third game of a six-game road trip. The Nets have lost four of their last five against the Kings, including a 106-101 loss at the Izod Center on Dec. 18.

The Kings had four players (John Salmon, Ron Artest, Brad Miller and Francisco Garcia) break the 20-point mark in that game, while the Nets had just one (Richard Jefferson). Sacramento has covered in three of its last four games overall.

              Pick: Kings

Ice Picks: Tuesday's best NHL wagers
                ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Jersey at Philadelphia (-127, 5)

The Flyers are one of the hottest teams in the NHL and have won four straight games and seven of their last eight.

They come into Tuesday night's game against the Devils on the back of one of their best wins of the season. They beat the Ottawa Senator 6-1, with Scott Hartnell scoring the game winning goal. That came just one day after Hartnell scored his second hat trick in five games.

The 25-year-old was acquired from Nashville in a trade last June and has scored 10 goals in the last seven games and 16 in the last 28 games. The home team is 21-6 in the last 27 meetings between these teams.

                Pick: Flyers

                Boston at Montreal (-162, 5.5)

The Bruins are 3-0-1 in their last four games and they head to Montreal Tuesday after a home-and-home series sweep of the New York Rangers.

The key to Boston's recent success has undoubtedly been the strong play of goaltender Tim Thomas. He had 30 saves and took a shutout into the final minute of the of Sunday's win in New York, but a defensive error left him exposed and he gave up a goal.

Overall, he is 14-11-3 with a 2.34 goals against average for the season. Montreal, meanwhile, was shut out by the Penguins in its last game, a 2-0 home loss on Saturday.

                Pick: Bruins

                Columbus at Dallas (-156, 5)

Dallas winger Niklas Hagman is having a career season. The 28-year-old already has 18 goals – one more than the career best he managed in 82 games last year.

He also has four shorthanded goals, equaling the total number he managed in his previous five seasons in the NHL. He scored two against Anaheim in his last game, one of which was his fifth game-winning goal of the season. He had a total of six game winners in his career entering 2007-08.

Hagman's performances are a major part of the Stars' recent success. They have won three straight games and aim for a second win in less than a week against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.

                Pick: Stars
