              ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boston Celtics at New York Knicks (NBA | 1 PM ET)

Boston crushed New York 104-59 in the last meeting back on November 29th. A 3-pointer from near midcourt by Nate Robinson saved the Knicks from posting their lowest point total in franchise history. The Celtics have won 11 of the last 14 meetings, including 4 straight at Madison Square Garden. EDGE CELTICS
The Celtics hope to get point guard Rajon Rondo back after he has missed the last 2 games and 3 of the past 4 with a bruised back and sore hamstring. Eddie House has started in place of Rondo and is averaging 12.5 points and 4.5 assists. EDGE: CELTICS
Celtics are 44-17-1 ATS in their last 62 road games.
Knicks are 23-48 ATS in their last 71 games following an ATS win.
The road team is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings.

Seattle SuperSonics at Houston Rockets (2 PM ET)

Tracy McGrady came off the bench for the Rockets on Saturday and scored 9 points in an 83-81 win. McGrady had missed the previous 11 games with a knee injury. EDGE: ROCKETS
Seattle has lost 10 straight games and will be looking to avoid the longest single-season losing streak in franchise history. "Nobody wants to accept losing," Sonics guard Earl Watson said. "But it's real. And it's not easy." EDGE: ROCKETS
Sonics are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games when playing on 1 days rest.
Rockets are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games as a favorite.
The home team is 4-1-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings.

Chicago Bulls at Memphis Grizzlies (TNT | 5:30 PM ET)

Chicago will try to avoid a serious letdown here after beating the Pistons for the 3rd time this season on Saturday at home. The Bulls have lost the previous 2 times after beating Detroit by a combined 41 points. EDGE: GRIZZLIES
The Bulls could be without second-leading scorer Luol Deng due to a nagging Achilles' injury and Chris Duhon with a knee sprain. EDGE: GRIZZLIES
Bulls are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a 10+ point win.
Grizzlies are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games against the Central Division.

Detroit Pistons at Orlando Magic (8 PM ET)

Detroit will be looking to avoid a season-high 3-game losing streak after losing to Sacramento and Chicago. The Pistons handed the Magic their most lopsided loss of the season back on November 2nd, winning 116-92 at Orlando. EDGE: PISTONS
Orlando is just 3-6 this month after closing out 2007 on a 4-game winning streak. EDGE: PISTONS
Pistons are 11-1 ATS in their last 12 games when playing on 1 days rest.
Magic are 13-4 ATS in their last 17 games an underdog.
The OVER is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Miami Heat (TNT | 8 PM ET)

Miami has dropped 13 straight games, going 1-12 ATS during that stretch. The skid is the worst during the entire coaching career of Pat Riley. "Maybe we should hang some more pictures of that trophy somewhere, so we can remember what it felt like to be in that moment," Riley said. "We have to change the energy, somehow." Miami has also lost 5 straight home games and is just 4-14 at AmericaAirlines Arena this season. BIG EDGE: CAVS
Cleveland star LeBron James has lost all 8 trips to Miami during his young career despite averaging 27 points, 7.5 assists and 4.9 rebounds in those games. In fact, the Heat have won the last 9 meetings with the Cavs. EDGE: HEAT
Cavs are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games against the Eastern Conference.

Denver Nuggets at Los Angeles Lakers (TNT | 10:30 PM ET)

LA's Kwame Brown will be replacing Andrew Bynum in the starting lineup for the next couple months and has not enjoyed that role so far. Brown was booed loudly in his 1st home game since replacing Bynum, missing a dunk and committing 4 of his 7 turnovers in the 3rd quarter of a loss to Phoenix on Thursday. "I thought it was terrible," Lakers star Kobe Bryant said of the fans' behavior. "If they want to do that, they can stay home. He's going to be our guy here for two months. He's going to do fine, he's going to play well the next game." EDGE: NUGGETS
Denver is allowing an average of 111.3 points in its last 6 games. That included 60 second-half points to Minnesota in a 111-108 win over the Timberwolves on Saturday. EDGE: LAKERS & OVER

Pick 'n' roll: Monday’s NBA picks (Updated)
                  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                  Indiana Pacers at Philadelphia 76ers (-3, 203)

The Indiana Pacers will be without Jermaine O'Neal for at least two weeks as he gets treatment for a bruised left knee. That news couldn't have come at a worse time.

Even though the Pacers have been solid against the number, they've dropped five of their last seven straight up and have allowed about 112 points per game over the last five. Sacramento's Mikki Moore took advantage of O'Neal's absence in the paint, hammering home six dunks on his way to a 22-point evening.

The 76ers kicked off a short homestead with an impressive 99-95 win over the Toronto Raptors as 2-point underdogs. Philadelphia ran wild in the third quarter, outscoring the Raptors 34-16.

Willie Green finished with 23 points, while both Andre Iguodala and Andre Miller added 20.

                  Pick: 76ers -3

Chicago Bulls at Memphis Grizzlies (-1.5, 206)

The Chicago Bulls made headlines last week by suspending Joakim Noah. The outspoken rookie was suspended one game for an altercation with assistant coach Ron Adams and an additional game when the players unanimously voted that the one-game ban wasn't enough.

"I think any time you face adversity you find out the true character of the people you're associated with. I'm very pleased with the way our guys handled that controversy," interim coach Jim Boylan told reporters.

Chicago has won two of its last three, including a 97-81 win over Detroit as a 6.5-point underdog, but it has been a tough year for the 16-23 Bulls.

"All I know is at the end of games, we have to get stops," Ben Gordon told the Chicago Sun-Times. "That's what we did a couple years ago when we were a really good team. ... We haven't been able to do that consistently. That's the main reason we've been losing some close games.

"If we can play that way against the Pistons ... we should be able to do it against other teams."

                  Pick: Bulls +1.5

                  Denver Nuggets at L.A. Lakers (-4.5, 223.5)

The Denver Nuggets beat the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves Saturday night. Barely.

The Nuggets needed a late surge from Allen Iverson and a little help from the officials down the stretch to close out a 111-108 decision as a big 11.5-point favorite. Denver is dealing with injury issues again with Nene, Chucky Atkins, and Kenyon Martin ailing, though Martin may be able to go against the Lakers.

"Over the years the players have gotten more of an attitude of making sure they're healthy and they're not going to play with a weaker body because there's so much money involved," Denver coach George Karl told the Longmont Daily Times-Call. "They realize if you lose a year in your career or you lost two years in your career, you're losing a big hunk of change."

Nuggets bettors know all about throwing money away. Denver has dropped three of its last four against the number and is 19-20 against the spread this season.

                  Pick: Lakers -4.5

New York Giants vs. New England Patriots
                        Super Bowl XLII
                        (FOX | 6:30 PM ET)

New York is trying to become the 2nd team in NFL history to win all of its playoff games on the road and then hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy, following the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XL. The Giants have won 10 straight away from home, going 9-1 ATS, with the lone loss coming in a 13-10 victory against Miami in London back on October 28th. EDGE: GIANTS
The Patriots are going for the 1st 19-0 season in NFL history and are already the 1st team to start 18-0. However, after covering their 1st 8 games of the regular season, they are just 2-8 ATS in their last 10, including 0-2 in the playoffs with a nearly identical spread as this one. The UNDER is also 4-1-1 in their last 6 games. EDGE: GIANTS
These teams met in the regular-season finale, which the Giants used as a springboard to the Super Bowl. Some questioned whether or not they would be mentally and physically drained after playing the Patriots hard when they had nothing on the line, but instead they gained a ton of confidence. Quarterback Eli Manning even admitted after winning the NFC Championship that playing competitively against New England in a playoff-type atmosphere is one of the main reasons they earned a rematch in the Super Bowl. EDGE: GIANTS
Manning continues his growth and maturity for the Giants with 8 touchdown passes and just 1 interception in his last 4 games. Ironically, that pick came against the Patriots, who were burned by 4 TD passes as well, 2 of which went to Plaxico Burress. While Manning's development has been crucial, New England QB Tom Brady is clearly in a league of his own as he goes for his 4th Super Bowl title in 4 attempts. Brady has been named Super Bowl MVP twice and is coming off the best regular season of any QB in league history with an NFL-record 50 touchdown passes. EDGE: PATRIOTS
New England is definitely seeing the benefit of a healthy Laurence Maroney, who remains as fresh as any running back the NFL has ever seen in the playoffs. Maroney was very limited for a majority of the regular season, sitting out 3 full games and carrying the ball 15 times or less in 9 other games. Maroney had scored just 2 touchdowns in the 1st 13 games of the regular season, but he has scored at least once in each of the last 5 - scoring 6 total during that stretch - including 2 in the regular-season finale against the Giants. He has rushed for 122 yards in each of the team's 2 playoff games so far on a combined 47 carries. BIG EDGE: PATRIOTS
Patriots are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games vs. a team with a winning record.
Patriots are 40-19-3 ATS in ther last 62 games on grass.
The UNDER is 13-5-1 in New England's last 19 playoff games.
