When looking at a point spread line do you ever take a likely chop line simply because you can get good value on the juice? Right now SD at +14 (-105) Love the line at 14.5...Hate this 14. But I like reduced juice on my picks.

There are guys in here that can answer this better than I, as I'm sure there are studies done to tell you when to buy, and when not to. I've read an article before that talked about hte only time it is worth buying a 1/2 point in football is around the 3 points mark, either -2.5 or +3.5 depending on the side you want. That theory is backed up by the fact that all books make you pay 20% to move the line off 3.
Personally, I still buy it on/off 7, 10, and 14, sometimes even off 17 or 21, but the higher the number the less likely you should probably buy it.
This week I bought 1/2 point on the GB to get it from 7 to 6.5, earlier in the week. I was planning on buying the Chargers up to 14.5 as well, but my place it just went to 14.5. Wait until close to game time and the Pats will probably be 14.5 or q15 anyway.
