    Six-pack for Tuesday

Some rare tennis knowledge from the Armadillo.........

-- Good latenight action on TV (ESPN2) this week and next with Australian Open tennis. Live TV is almost always fun.

-- It is legal to gamble on tennis in Australia; over $400M was wagered online on tennis, just in 2007.

-- 9th-seed player named Murray lost Sunday night; guy is a dead ringer for Carrot Top, I kid you not. Actually, Carrot Top might have bigger biceps; the wacky comic is ripped.

-- Odd stat about Australian Open men's finals: Winner of first set is just 7-6 in last 13 finals, but winner of second set hasn't lost Aussie Open final since 1992.

-- Roger Federer lost in the finals at French Open last two years, and hasn't won at Roland Garros, but has won 12 of other 15 tournaments in Grand Slam, over last five seasons.

-- We would encourage ESPN execs, if in doubt, to show as many Maria Sharapova matches as possible.

Tuesday's List of 13: Ranking Final Four, random stuff.......

      13) Packer RB Ryan Grant started this season in training camp with the Giants; now he is a key figure in NFC title tilt, against Giant team that traded him to Green Bay. Life can be weird.

      12) Grant earned $310,000 this season, furthering an idea that is getting more popular: Running back is easiest position you can find off the scrap heap.

      11) All this won't help Darrin McFadden get a big contract in his rookie season, although he does appear to be real deal as a potential star runner, like Adrian Peterson was LY.

      10) New rule in golf this year; top 70 and ties make cut, but if the number is above 78, those guys get paid, but can't play in weekend rounds. John Daly was victim of the new rule over in Hawai'i Friday, and he wasn't happy about it.

      9) Just so you know that this rule has some teeth, over last five years, three guys won tournaments after making the cut exactly on the number, so it is possible to do.

      8) Ernie Els' last win in this country was in 2004. Surprising.

      7) Kyle Shanahan, Mike's son, is now Houston's offensive coordinator at age 28. Bringing in Alex Gibbs to coach the OL and teach them how to cut block will help immensely.'

      6) Central Florida has center named Stanley Billings who had 17 points against Tulsa Saturday; Billings is 29, was a cook in Marines for eight years, before going to college.

      5) Lebron James got nailed for speeding at 2:43am Dec 30, his birthday, going 101 mph. If I ran the Cavaliers, I'd be having a little talk with my franchise player.

And now, we rank the NFL's Final Four, with conference title games on tap this weekend...........

      4) Chargers-- Gutty effort in Indy, but injuries are taking toll on a deep roster. Even their kicker is hurt.

2b) Giants-- Nine straight road wins is amazing feat, it really is

2a) Packers-- Favre won his Super Bowl against New England 11 years ago; is he headed for a rematch?

      1) Patriots-- Two wins away from immortality.

            Sunday, January 20

San Diego Chargers at New England Patriots (CBS | 3 PM ET)

This is a rematch of a Week 2 matchup at New England, which the Patriots won 38-14. That game was played with some major revenge by the home team, who was accused of stealing signals the week before against the Jets. Randy Moss had a big game for the Pats with 8 catches for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns while Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson was limited to 43 yards on 18 carries. Neither player was effective last week, with Tomlinson nursing a knee injury that will likely keep him from playing at 100 percent. EDGE: PATRIOTS
San Diego Pro Bowl CB Antonio Cromartie did not play in the 1st meeting, as he did not see action until Week 3 at Green Bay. Cromartie played a key role in Sunday's win at Indy and picked off Peyton Manning 4 times in 2 meetings. He led the NFL in interceptions with 10 and will likely be assigned the task of checking Moss in the AFC Championship. SLIGHT EDGE: CHARGERS
Patriots are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games after starting the season on a 9-1 ATS run.
Chargers are 8-0 SU & ATS in their last 8 games.
Chargers are 11-1 ATS in their last 12 games vs. AFC opponents.
The OVER is 11-2-2 in San Diego's last 15 road games.
The OVER is 16-6-1 in New England's last 23 game overall.
The OVER is 8-3-1 in New England's last 12 games on field turf.
The UNDER is 9-2-1 in New England's last 12 home playoff games.

New York Giants at Green Bay Packers (FOX | 6:30 PM ET)

These teams also met in Week 2 of the regular season before Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo had fully implemented his scheme. The Packers rolled to an easy 35-13 victory at New York behind 3 touchdown passes from Brett Favre. The Giants were led by Derrick Ward's 90 rushing yards and Jeremy Shockey's 5 catches for 60 yards. Both Ward and Shockey are out of the playoffs with injuries, but the team has had little trouble replacing them. SLIGHT EDGE: PACKERS
Packers RB Ryan Grant was 5th on New York's depth chart in the preseason behind Ward, Brandon Jacobs, Reuben Droughns and Ahmad Bradshaw. Grant was then acquired by Green Bay from the Giants for a 6th-round draft pick before another team could claim him on waivers. Even though he fumbled twice against the Seahawks, Grant's 201 rushing yards clearly set the tone for the rest of the team's win. He will likely be the key figure again at frigid Lambeau Field on Sunday in what could very well be a ball-control game. EDGE: PACKERS
Giants QB Eli Manning has played well in the last 3 games, throwing 8 touchdowns with just 1 interception. However, all 3 of those games were played in good weather conditions while the temperature in Sunday's game might not even reach double digits. EDGE: PACKERS
Packers are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games as a favorite.
Packers are 11-3-1 ATS in their last 15 games on grass.
Giants have won 9 straight on the road, going 8-1 ATS in those games.
Giants are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games vs. NFC opponents.
The UNDER is 8-1 in New York's last 9 road games.
The OVER is 13-3 in Green Bay's last 16 games overall.

                    Tuesday NBA Gameday

The Detroit Pistons will be looking to snap the Toronto Raptors' three-game winning streak when the two teams meet on the court on Tuesday night. Here is your NBA Gameday:

Chicago Bulls at Orlando Magic, 7:00pm ET

The Bulls are still having a hard time escaping the basement of the Central Division, never mind getting back into contention for a playoff berth. Chicago is coming off a 105-84 loss to the Hawks on Sunday, which dropped their record to 14-21 on the year. Luol Deng had a team-high 28 points for the Bulls in the loss, and Andres Nocioni scored 20.

Orlando still holds down top spot in the Southeast Division, but they've now lost five of their six games in the month of January. The Magic's sole win this month came last Wednesday, when they slipped past the Clippers. Orlando is coming off a 119-115 loss to the Jazz on Saturday night, with Dwight Howard picking up 29 points and 15 boards.

Toronto Raptors at Detroit Pistons, 7:30pm ET

The Raptors are going to have a hard time chasing down the Celtics in the Atlantic Division, but their three-game winning streak has at least pushed them to 20-17 on the season. Toronto is coming off a 116-109 OT win over the Blazers on Sunday, with Chris Bosh scoring a game-high 38 points. The Raptors lost 101-85 to Detroit on January 4.

Detroit looks like they'll cruise to the Central Division title this season, but they still suffered an embarrassing 89-65 loss to the Knicks on Sunday. Only two Pistons managed to score double-digit points in that game - Antonio McDyess had 15, and Chauncey Billups had 14. The Pistons had previously won four of six January contests.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Memphis Grizzlies, 8:00pm ET

The Cavaliers have won five of six games this month to at least remain just single digits behind the Pistons in the division. Cleveland got back over .500 with a 113-106 double-overtime win over the Bobcats on Friday. LeBron James scored a game-high 31 points and grabbed 19 boards in that Friday contest, and Anderson Varejao had a 16-18 night.

The Grizzlies are the only team in the Southwest Division below the .500 mark on the season, and their horrible month of December has carried over into January. Memphis lost their fourth game in a row on Sunday night (to the Lakers), and they're now just 2-5 since the beginning of 2008. The Grizzlies are just 6-12 on their own court this season.

Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles Clippers, 10:30pm ET

The Suns are 7-3 in their past 10 games, but the Lakers have still been closing the gap on them in the Pacific Division standings. Phoenix was knocked off 108-86 by Utah on Thursday night, but they bounced back with a 122-114 win over the Bucks on Saturday. Steve Nash had a game-high 35 points in that win, and Amare Stoudemire scored 31.

The Clippers are 1-9 in their past 10 games, they've lost four in a row, and they've yet to pick up a victory in 2008. It's not surprising, then, that they're mired in the basement of the Pacific Division. The Clippers were edged 95-94 by the Mavericks on Saturday, with Tim Thomas scoring 21 points in the loss. Corey Maggette picked up 20 points that day.
