OAKLAND (1-1 SU/0-2 ATS) at DENVER (2-0 SU/2-0 ATS)
The Raiders survived a scare last week in a narrow 23-20 non-cover (-12) home win over the hapless Bengals. QB Rich Gannon completed just 13-of-28 passes for 103 yards without a TD and RB Charlie Garner ran 13 times for 63 yards, while WR Jerry Rice caught four passes for 40 yards in the victory. Sebastian Janikowski kicked a 39-yard field goal with nine seconds left in the game to give Oakland the win. It was a poor showing for Oakland who had deficits in total "O" (416-237), first downs (27-12) and time of possession (39:24 to 20:36). Denver improved to 2-0 on the season with a relatively easy 37-13 win and cover (-3) at San Diego last week. QB Jake Plummer completed 9-of-13 passes for 94 yards and 3 TD's before leaving the game with a separated right shoulder early in the second quarter passes and RB Clinton Portis rushed for 129 yards on 12 carries in the win as well. Backup QB Steve Beuerlein, who replaced Plummer, did an admirable job, completing 7-of-16 passes for 98 yards. For the game, the Broncos outgained the Chargers in total "O" 382-303. The Raiders come into this game 1-7-1 ATS in division openers, while the Broncos are 13-3 ATS at home the week after playing San Diego. Oakland has won the last four meetings with Denver SU and ATS. In two meetings last season, the Raiders won 34-10 at Denver as +6 point 'dogs and 28-16 as -3½ point home chalks. Will call for revenge in this one. Lay the points.
