Ice picks: Thursday's best NHL bets
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Toronto at Pittsburgh (-164, 6)

Mats Sundin has 13 goals and 18 assists in his last 18 games against Pittsburgh and has scored more goals (38) against the Penguins than he has against any other team in the league.

Sidney Crosby is riding an eight-game point streak against the Leafs, tallying six goals and nine assists in that span.

This could spell trouble for inexperienced netminders Scott Clemmensen and Ty Conklin. Although both have been solid in relief of their club’s injured starters, they will be facing two captains who have enjoyed tremendous success against each other.

There could be a lot of goals scored tonight with Toronto and Pittsburgh ranking 22nd and 23rd respectively in penalty kill percentage. The Leafs have given up 3.10 goals per game and the Penguins allow 2.85.

The over is 5-0-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams.

    Pick: Over 6

    N.Y. Rangers at Vancouver (-150, 5)

Leaving GM Place with a point has been a rare occurrence for visitors these days.

The Canucks are 10-0-2 with four shutouts in their last 12 home games. They have surrendered just 11 goals in that stretch behind the stellar play of Roberto Luongo.

The Rangers, on the other hand, are hoping that their goaltender can get back to his early season form. Henrik Lundqvist had an uncharacteristically sloppy end to 2007. He struggled in his last six outings going 2-3-1 and posting a 3.75 goals against average.

New York suffered a 4-3 loss to the Flames last night.

    Pick: Vancouver –150

    Columbus at Los Angeles (-125, 5 1/2)

The Columbus Blue Jackets own the worst road record in the Western Conference. At 5-10-2 they are in tough tonight against a very hot Kings team. To make matters worse, the home team has won seven of the last eight meetings in this matchup.

Los Angeles is coming off a 9-2 trouncing of the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night. The Kings are going for their fourth straight win and will be more confident and well rested than Columbus.

The Blue Jackets suffered its third straight defeat on the road last night, dropping a 2-1 decision to the defending Stanley Cup champions.

    Pick: Los Angeles -125
