If anyone cares Iowa only has 8 players tonight...The top guard is gone..another got drunk ...the line I feel shows this but still??? Iowa sucks...by the way I layed off the game was hoping it opened lower

Peterson out of game after grandfather's death
Iowa point guard won't play at UNI.




Iowa point guard Jeff Peterson will not play in tonight's game at Northern Iowa because of the death of his grandfather.

Iowa coach Todd Lickliter said in a statement released Tuesday afternoon that Peterson will be attending the funeral in Springfield, Mo.

Peterson missed practice time in November between Iowa's second and third games because of the death of his grandmother.

"Our thought and prayers are with Jeff and his family," Lickliter said in the statement. "We support his decision to return home to be with his family. Jeff is a member of a very close family that has gone through some tough times this fall with the passing of both grandparents."

Peterson's absence means it's likely the Hawkeyes will have just eight players in uniform for tonight's game. Guard Dan Bohall won't play after his arrest for public intoxication last weekend, and guard Tony Freeman has not been cleared to play as he continues to recover from a fractured bone in his foot.

Freeman did practice with the team Monday.

Peterson has started all nine of Iowa's games this season, averaging 7.6 points and a team-high four assists.

BOHALL PLEADS GUILTY: Iowa guard Dan Bohall has been fined $100 after pleading guilty to public consumption of alcohol.

Bohall, a sophomore from Sioux City, was taken to the Johnson County Jail early Sunday and was released later that day after his plea.
