I'm all for an 8 team playoff but you need to have a caveat to include any team that finishes their regular season schedule undefeated. The NJHSAA uses the rule that any undefeated team automatically makes the playoffs... and every team with a power point total higher then the undefeated team also must be included.

With that in mind, the season's tourney would be a 10 team affair and could easily be handled.

I didn't state it but the non-"Playoff" teams would still play their individual lower level bowl games during the days between the playoff games and NFL games... just as they do now.

Obviously the big bowls are not going to allow the biggest games to be played at the better seeded teams home field, so that's out.

What to do about travelling fans... I don't know. Since when was the concern of fans an issue for anything with the NCAA? I realize travelling fans = $$$ but I think this playoff would draw more casual fans to the sites much like the NCAA Basketball Tourney does. I really believe there's just as much (if not more) money to be made with this type of playoff.


As far as the the advancing teams being beaten down... there's 2 weeks before the opening round games and 3 weeks for those teams in the top 6 seeds. Then as we move forward, there is 9 days off until the Semifinal games and a 9 day break until the final.
