Ice picks: Sunday's best NHL bets

Atlanta Thrashers at New Jersey Devils (-170, 5 1/2)

The Devils are on a roll with six straight wins, with their last two coming on home ice. Key to the Devils' recent success is Martin Brodeur, who recorded two shutouts and allowed just six goals in the streak. They've played under the total in 15 of 22 games with Brodeur in nets. Zach Parise netted a hat trick in New Jersey's 4-0 win over Montreal and has seven goals in the last six games.

The Thrashers started this two-game road trip with a 4-0 win over the Islanders that broke a three-game losing streak. They played under the total in three of their last four games.

            Pick: under

Vancouver Canucks at Minnesota Wild (-150, 5)

Roberto Luongo's shutout streak will be tested tonight against Marian Gaborik and the Wild. As Luongo goes for his fourth straight shutout, Gaborik will need to find the back of the net for a goal in each of his last four games. Luongo was 0-4-1 with a 3.20 GAA against Minnesota before a win in February. He allowed two goals in a 6-2 win over the Wild on Nov. 16.

Both teams are 3-0 in their last three games overall. They've split the last 10 games against each other dating back to October 2006.

            Pick: Wild -150

                  Kansas at USC
The Jayhawks run into a hot USC team today that looks like it can cause some trouble. Since dropping their opener to Mercer, the Trojans have righted themselves and come in having won six straight, including back-to-back wins over Southern Illinois (70-45) and Oklahoma (66-55). Highly-regarded freshman O.J. Mayo has been strong early and leads Tim Floyd's squad with 21.3 scoring average. He's been joined by fellow freshman Davon Jefferson, who scored 23 points and had nine boards against the Sooners. Kansas is off to a 6-0 start, its best since the 2004-05 season, but the Jayhawks have yet to leave the Lawrence campus. This will be their first road trip and makes USC a good upset pick (+2 1/2) according to Dunkel, which has the Trojans favored straight up by 1. Dunkel Pick: USC (+2 1/2). Here are all of today's games.
