              Saturday's Games

              Top 7 Games

North Carolina is 5-0, already having beaten Old Dominion by 17, Davidson by 4, Ohio State by 11 (they trailed by 3 at half). Injured PG Lawson (ankle) might be back here. Kentucky (4-1) hasn't beaten anyone, losing to Gardner-Webb, only beating Stony Brook by 10. Carolina (-11) beat Wildcats 75-63 last year.

7-0 New Mexico's only road game was 54-47 at Colorado; they viist 5-0 Ole Miss, which han't been away from Oxford yet, but also only has one win by less than 14 points. Lobos have yet to allow more than 60 points in game, but they've been playing cupcakes. Interesting scheduling- two up and coming teams.

Gonzaga blew big lead at St Joe's, won in OT; they've been all over so far, going 2-1 in Alaska, now playing at UConn squad that is 5-1 but lost to only good team they've played (Memphis 81-70). You look at UConn's schedule, and they don't play any other good teams until Big East play starts- they play Georgia Tech and Indiana in early '08, in midst of league play.

Former Butler coach Matta does his old school a favor, as Ohio State visits Hinkle Fieldhouse, few days after home loss to the Tar Heels (they led by 3 at half). Butler is 6-0, beating Michigan Texas Tech, Virginia Tech. First true road game for Buckeyes, who beat Syracuse, lost badly to Texas A&M on neutral court.

Cal is 4-0, winning at Nevada by six, also beating San Diego St. Missouri lost tough game at Arkansas during week, 94-91; they press for 40 minutes, interesting test for Bears. So far, Big 12 is leading Pac-10, with Iowa State winning in OT at Oregon State, Kansas beating Arizona (USC did beat Oklahoma).

First road game for Indiana, which split pair on neutral court in Chicago (lost to Xavier, after beating Illinois State in semis of that event). Southern Illinois won two of three out in Anaheim, getting crushed by USC, after beating Chattanooga, Miss State handily in first two rounds. Late tip-off in Carbondale for TV.

Duke waxed Davidson 75-47 at Cameron LY (-21), but Wildcats have improved greatly since then, winning their league last yr, and staying within 72-68 of North Carolina earlier this season. Duke crushed Wisconsin by 24 at home earlier this week; they aren't big team, but appear better than in recent seasons.

-- LMU won 58-55 at Santa Barbara LY (+5).
