After reading your post from Sunday night, I went through each box score from 2004...I also looked for the Bills but had problems finding it.

Colts did win games in large margins, but the ran for TD's in the fourth Q. Manning did not pad his stats in 2004 with extended 'garbage time' TD's. Like I posted early, only 1 4th quarter TD with his team up by more tha 2 TD's and it was with 13 minutes left in the 4th quarter of a 17 point game.

He did throw for 2 TD's in the 3rd Q's of games he was up more than 3 TD's. That's it....unless I missed something.

Brady is playing at a level few, if anyone ,has ever achieved. But for Manning to throw 48 TD's in what were essentially games still yet TBD, that is very, very impressive.

Great, they had a running game and were good at it. New England hasn't had a running game all year since Maroney was hurt and Morris went down. Some run and some throw.

FACT: Miami won in a non salary cap era

FACT: Miami won in a schedule which included 2 less games

FACT: Miami didn't have to worry about losing players to Free Agency because there was no Free Agency

The Patriots are the Best Team in Football in 2007 Right now and with 5 regular season games and playoffs left anything can happen. Brady could break his throwing arm and Moss pull a hamstring.
Trying to compare teams from the past are useless, because there were different rules in every one of those years.
When they Steelers won their Super Bowls in the 70's, the defensive backs were allowed to hit the receivers all over the field until the ball was thrown. The rules were changed on defense to give other teams a chance to win.
Mel Blount, a HOF Defensive back who was 6'5" and 220 lbs, would grab and pick up wide receivers and throw them on the ground. It was a legal back then. The 79 team has more players from that team alone, in the Hall of Fame, than any other team in the NFL History. Does that make them the best-----------------------NO.
The Forty Niner dynasty years were before salary caps were established and they had the biggest payroll and the best players along with the Dallas Cowboys during their time. And both dominated in the 80's and 90's. Does that make any of them better------------------NO

Is the Undefeated Dolphins the best team ever----------NO, just the only team that went undefeated in the history of the NFL. And if NE happens to do it, their name will go down in history and the second undefeated team----------Nothing more.

If NE continues to blow every team out on their way to winning the Super Bowl. You can bet that the NFL will put more emphasis on a rule changes next year that will call more offensive pass interference because of the like of Randy Moss, who if you watch very closely what he does just before going up to catch a pass. He always puts his hands on the defensive player and pushes off right before making the catch. He has gotten away with it his whole career and rules will be put in next year to watch and call offense pass interference more.
The NFL could also revert back to the rules from the 50's and 60's, where the QB was less protected.

Also if NE continues to embarrass teams. You will see teams who are playing them, tell there players that they will get a bonus if they put certain players out of the game. Believe me it will happen behind closed doors. And if it does, I won't feel sad, because it comes with the territory.

With all that said, I will continue to put my money on the best team, (NE) right now, in the NFL.
