I went 3-0 last weekend in the NFL. I went 4-2 yesterday in CFB, grinding out a small profit as one of my losses was on a 2* play on South Carolina. I also lost on Notre Dame (what was I thinking?) but won easily on dogs Wisconsin, Maryland and Nebraska (how easy was that?) and favored Cincinnati. I went 2-1 on my unrated opinion plays and should have played some moneylines as six of my eight posted dogs won straight up. On to Sunday.
The first two of these plays were posted earlier in the week at the lines I obtained at the time. The Arizona line has since moved but I still recommend the play.
2* Cardinals +1 (-115)
Detroit is a phony 6-2. They've only outscored their opponents by a little over 30 points on the season and that counts last week's blowout over Denver. This is a big letdown spot as they go on the road. Arizona should come out with a big offensive performance in the second game off the bye after playing pathetically on offense on the road against Tampa's solid defense. Detroit's D is much weaker and the Cardinals' defense isn't all that bad. This line, even with the point movement in the past few days making Arizona a favorite, is way off and an overreaction to last week's results. Strong play on the Cardinals here.
1* Dolphins +3 (-115)
As everyone knows by now, the strongest technical system in the NFL the last decade is to play winless teams off the bye. Aside from that, Miami two weeks ago played the Giants very tough in the London game and appears to be sitting on an overdue win. Buffalo isn't a very good team and is due for a letdown after a big win at home last week.
1* Redskins -2 1/2 (-120)
Buy the hook if necessary. Philly is all screwed up and McNabb is playing badly. Reid is losing control of this team as he loses control of his personal life. Look for a major statement from the Redskins as they play a division game after two road non-conf games---a nighmarish performance two weeks ago in New England and a nice OT win last week at the Jets. This is a key matchup in the NFC East and Washington is the better team and playing at home.
