  • KB's Saturday NCAA Foots (1st ever GOY)

1st ever "GOY" post by me here in 38,000 posts. Now guranteed most of them are bullshit, quite a few of them are plays as well. Let me start off by saying these are my 2 most hated teams going head to head here. That being said, Oklahoma State has their best chance to get that 1st Big 12 South title this year and get to the Big 12 title game. Their offense, ranked 10th in the country is on a roll offensively as of late scoring 49, 39, 23, 45, and 41 in their last 5 games. Gundy seemed to light a fire under their ass with his infamous "I'm a man, I'm 40" speech. Dantrell Savage is back healthy and has rushed for 130, 115, 110, 212, and 124 in those respective games where the offense has gotten on track.
    1. Texas is 1-4 ATS following a SU win
    2. Texas is 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 as a road favorite of 1-3 points
    3. Texas is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 as road favorites
    4. Texas is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games
    5. Texas is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning record

    1. Okie State is 6-0 ATS in their last 6 following an ATS loss
    2. Okie State is 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record
    3. Okie State is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 as a home Dog

I think this is a high scoring game where Okie State comes out on top at home. Okie State 44-38!!

    10* Oklahoma State +3

    More to come later on.

GAME NOTES: The 14th-ranked Texas Longhorns hit the road for a Big 12 Conference collision with the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Texas began the season with four straight wins before dropping back-to-back decisions. Fortunately for the Longhorns, they have been able to bounce back strong with three consecutive victories, including last weekend's 28-25 triumph over Nebraska. As for Oklahoma State, it has won two straight games to move to 5-3 overall, and the program needs only one more victory to become bowl eligible. Last weekend, the Cowboys treated their Homecoming crowd to a thrilling 41-39 decision over Kansas State, and they are now set to play the second of what will be three consecutive home games. Texas owns a commanding 19-2 series record against Oklahoma State, including nine straight wins over the Cowboys.

Put simply, Nebraska is not a good football team, so when the Cornhuskers took a 17-3 lead over Texas in Austin last week, the hometown crowd was frustrated and concerned. The score was 17-9 heading into the fourth quarter, and that is when Jamaal Charles took over the game. The talented tailback had touchdown runs of 25, 86 and 40 yards during a nine-minute span in the fourth quarter, and he finished the game with 290 yards on 33 carries, a career-best performance. Colt McCoy struggled again under center, as he completed only 12- of-28 passes for 181 yards and no touchdowns with one interception. Quan Cosby was extremely productive at the receiver position, however, as he made five catches for 113 yards. Charles, the current Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, has rushed for 1,012 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. McCoy has completed 65 percent of his throws for 2,350 yards and 15 touchdowns, but those strong numbers are offset a bit by 13 interceptions. Nate Jones leads all UT receivers with 53 catches for 585 yards and four touchdowns.

The Texas defense was far from dominant last week against Nebraska, as the Longhorns allowed 447 total yards, including 315 through the air. All three touchdowns that Nebraska scored came on pass plays, including two of over 20 yards. Texas did come up with one fumble recovery and a pair of sacks, but there is obviously plenty of room for improvement after the mediocre showing. Opponents are scoring 19.9 ppg against the Longhorns, who are surrendering 321.7 total ypg. They have been tough against the run, limiting foes to 94.1 ypg on 2.8 ypc. As for the pass defense, it has surrendered some big plays, but the overall effort has been solid. Marcus Griffin continues to lead Texas in tackles with 62 and interceptions with three.

In the shootout victory over Kansas State last week, Oklahoma State racked up 510 total yards, including 329 rushing yards. Dantrell Savage led the way on the ground with 124 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Zac Robinson contributed 109 rushing yards. As a passer, Robinson completed 11-of-25 passes for 181 yards with three touchdowns and only one interception. Wideout Adarius Bowman led the club in receiving with six catches for 81 yards. The Cowboys are averaging 34.5 ppg and 487.5 total ypg this season. Robinson has completed 56.4 percent of his passes for 1,509 yards with 13 touchdowns against six interceptions, and Bowman has made 50 catches for 802 yards and six scores. It is, however, the ground attack that serves as the identity of this offense. Savage has rushed for 746 yards and four touchdowns in the six games, while Kendall Hunter has posted 573 yards and four scores. Robinson, a versatile performer, has rushed for 415 yards and three touchdowns.

Judging by the fact that K-State was able to score 39 points last week, it is obvious that Oklahoma State did not play well defensively. The Cowboys yielded 529 total yards, including 404 yards through the air. The Wildcats finished with 51 pass attempts, 36 of which resulted in completions, and OSU did not register a single interception. Fortunately, the Cowboys were able to recover three fumbles, a key to the narrow victory. Opponents are scoring 25.9 ppg while gaining 430.8 total ypg against Oklahoma State, which has room for improvement defensively. Stopping the run hasn't been a problem, as foes are gaining just 3.3 ypc against the Cowboys. Unfortunately, teams are averaging 12.5 yards per pass completion with 15 touchdowns against six interceptions.

Expect this game to be close from start to finish. While Texas enters as the ranked team, give a narrow edge to the Cowboys. They should be able to keep Charles in check and score enough points to win.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Oklahoma State 31, Texas 24
