I might be the only one who thinks letting Lowell go would not be a dumb move. Supposedly, he wants 4 yrs...no way I would give him that. If they could get him to take 2, I could understand it but personally I'd handle him just like they handled Damon and Pedro.

I don't know who is available via FA but you could always try to get a 1B and move Youkilis, so you have the option of either a 3b or 1B.

I think it would be a terrible move NOT to sign him;if they can pay absurd amounts for ok players (but far from great)like Drew, Matsuzaka and especially Lugo, they sure as heck ought to pay the player who contributed so much during the regular season and playoffs.

Lowell is a by product of fenway park... take the green monster away and he's not good. Look at his split stats...Ughhhh..not good on the road..He had his good games but overall not good on the road...It's a necessity that sox sign lowell

Theo has done a very good job of evaluating his own free agents but has wasted millions on quite a few signings from other teams.

Well, I still think he wasted millions of dollars on Drew, Matsuzaka and especially Lugo.
Unless they get ARod, I would be totally shocked if Lowell does not return;I think Theo realizes the huge mistake he made by playing musical chairs with his shortstops-Cabrera to Renteria to Gonzalez and now Lugo and won't make the same mistake again and weaken the team that just won another WS;you just wait-this is one time I will be right-in short if no ARod, Lowell stays.

I do not think he wasted $$$ on Dice K.....it is too early.,....He has never traveled this much.....and it is a new culture....remember the whole 1st month where he shut teams down but got no run support....Also it took Beckett 2 years to get used to the AL...

Also Drew I think will be fine....I am not a fan, but if you look at his #'s this year was the exception....

Actually, same for Lugo......I think each will improve
