Don't know if this to personal but how much does everybody bet a Unit for
im playing 1* 100 with 4* 400 being my highest play
Just curious
The reason why people use units and not dollar amounts is because everyone has a different bankroll and income so posting based on units is for whatever you can afford to designate as your unit amount. This thread will get a lot of the same answer in which I am explaining.
I bet average of $125 per game....If I love a game I will bet $250-$500.....and if i feel like winging it I will bet $750....(about 3 times per year)....and if Wayne calls GOY i bet between $1K-$1,500
1 unit is one twentieth of my total bankroll deposited. So the amounts change as my account goes lower or higher. This way a bad run doesn't destroy me. I figure that I am at 140 per unit at the moment. But I have also been down to 30 per unit or get irrational and force the play(Oh please lawd - make this win!). i also try to take only one or a couple of plays per day in which this system works for me!
The important thing is that you are consistent with yourself.
My one unit is one unit all year at the exact same amount. I may up the number (or lower it) the next year.
People who vary their "unit" invariably end up betting more on losers than winners and are likely to chase.
I personally think people who would go on the internet and claim they bet huge numbers are lying. I'm willing to bet the guys who are betting the most are the ones who are most discreet about their betting units and never post an amount. I, for one, don't need anyone to know if I'm breaking the law for a lot of money.
The really important thing to understand is for some people betting $50 on a game is a huge amount of money while for others, $5,000 is nothing. Go to Vegas and you'll see what I mean. I've seen guys betting $5-10,000 waiting in line behind a guy with a 6-team $10 parlay.
