San Diego State-BYU game postponed due to fires
Jeff Schemmel put athletics on the back burner for the rest of the week.
San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - San Diego State's home football game versus Brigham Young University has been postponed due to the ongoing wildfires that are racing through the San Diego area.
The contest, originally scheduled for Saturday, will now be played on December 1 at Qualcomm Stadium.
"This decision was an easy one to make," said San Diego State athletic director Jeff Schemmel. "We have thousands of our fellow (residents) who are either in peril, have lost their homes or are still evacuated. Many of those evacuees are counting on Qualcomm Stadium as their temporary home. All of that is much more important than any athletic event. Our thoughts, prayers and most importantly, our efforts should be focused entirely on those people."
The university additionally postponed all scheduled home athletic events for the remainder of the week. These events will be either played an another location or rescheduled for a later dates...
