    Six-pack for Wednesday

-- Houston Texan PK Kris Brown booted five FGs Sunday, becoming the first to make three FGs of 54+ yards, with his 57-yarder at the buzzer winning the game for Texans, 22-19.

-- Eldrick Woods has won $10,867,052 on the PGA Tour in 2007, not counting his $10M from the FedEx Cup. Second on the list is Phil Mickelson, with $5,819,988.

-- 85 golfers have won $1M plus on Tour this year; #125 on the money list is Harrison Frazar ($688,814)- he leads #126 on the list, DJ Trahan, by $14,440.

-- Peter Gammons said Monday he thought Jorge Posada is heading to the Mets if Joe Torre gets fired in the Bronx.

-- Quarterbacks are protected-- you can't hit them below the knee, so how was it legal for Trent Green to blindside a guy below the knee Sunday? They should change the rule and make blocks like those illegal.

-- An arbitrator ruled Tuesday the Falcons can recover lot of money from Michael Vick-- $19.9M, lot more than most of the legal experts thought. So much for Vick returning to the Falcons after he is reinstated to the NFL.

Wednesday's List of 13: Our first NFL List of 13............

If you don’t have at least a .500 record, you can’t get ranked.

      13) Ravens-- Offense is putrid, they're shaky on road, but the defense is still good enough to keep them on this list.

      12) Seahawks-- Their time of possession in second half in the Pitt-- 5:07. Out of 30:00. Arizona is better than them.

      11) Cardinals-- Now that Karma Police broke Matt Leinart's clavicle after he bitched about playing time, two-time MVP Kurt Warner can lead Arizona to an unlikely playoff berth.

      10) Buccaneers-- Is it a league rule that Jeff Garcia plays for a different team every season, even when he plays well?

      9) Packers-- Wary of any team that can’t run ball real well. Question is, how far can 38-year old Favre take them? Center Wells is out for Sunday's game with a broken eye socket.

      8) Redskins-- Washington OC Al Saunders was no pal of Mike Martz when two were in St Louis, so Sunday’s 34-3 win had to feel better than usual.

      7) Giants-- Wonder if Tiki Barker still thinks Tom Coughlin should be fired? Big Blue won their last three games, dominating second half in all three.

      6) Jaguars-- Tough defense, efficient QB play from Garrard. We never see them on TV, but they're pretty good.

      5) Titans-- 9-2 in their last eleven games. Future generations will wonder why teams passed on Vince Young. Me too.

      4) Steelers-- Giving Pittsburgh pass for Arizona debacle; they dominated four teams they beat.

      3) Cowboys-- Romo was hideous Monday night, but Dallas found way to win, heading into this week‘s game vs. Patriots. Clearly the best team in the NFC right now.

      2) Patriots-- Won their first five games by 24-24-31-21-17 points. Waiting for Indianapolis to slip up.

      1) Colts- Defending champ; are kings of hill until they lose.

Navy is 3-2; they allowed 108 points in three-game stretch to Rutgers-Ball State-Duke- pass defense is major issue for them, as Duke had 428 passing yards against the Middies in 46-43 loss, had 36 points at the half. Wednesday, October 10

Navy at Pittsburgh (ESPN | 8 PM ET)

Pitt is coming off a bye week after three straight losses, including the last two by a combined 50 points. The Panthers have been stung by injuries to starting QB Bill Stull, WR Derek Kinder, DT Gus Mustakas and RT Jason Pinkston, all of which are expected to miss this game as well. Reserve QBs Pat Bostick and Kevan Smith have combined to throw just three touchdown passes with nine interceptions in Stull's absence. "We've got to get (a victory)," Pitt head coach Dave Wannstedt said. "It's important. You come out here and work this hard and put this much time into it, the thing that's frustrating is you're recruiting good players, and they come here and we've got guys that want to win and are preparing to win, and we've got to find ways to make it happen. There's no other way to really put it than that." SLIGHT EDGE: NAVY
Navy has failed to cover four of five this season, going 0-2 ATS on the road. However, the Middies are also coming off a bye week following a 31-20 win over Air Force for their only ATS victory of the season. SLIGHT EDGE: NAVY
These two teams have not faced each other since 1989 when Pitt beat Navy 31-14 at home but failed to cover a 28-point spread.
Navy is 46-18 ATS in its last 64 road games.
Pittsburgh is 2-6 ATS in its last 8 games overall.
The OVER is 6-2 in Navy's last 8 non-conference games.
The OVER is 9-3 in Pittsburgh's last 12 home games.

#21 Florida State at Wake Forest (ESPN | 7:30 PM)

Florida State is back in the Top 25 for the first time since the preseason thanks to the play of QB Xavier Lee, who made his first start of the season in a 27-10 win at North Carolina State last Saturday. Lee completed 16-of-27 passes for 257 yards, including four and a touchdown to WR Greg Carr (140 yards). EDGE: FLORIDA STATE
This is a big revenge game for the Seminoles, who were blanked 30-0 by Wake Forest last year, which marked the first time ever the team suffered a shutout at home in head coach Bobby Bowden's 31 years with the program. EDGE: FLORIDA STATE
The Demon Deacons have won three in a row following an 0-2 start, but they have still failed to cover two of those games as favorites, nearly blowing a 25-point lead in a 41-36 win at Duke last Saturday. EDGE: FLORIDA STATE
Florida State is 21-3-1 straight-up in the all-time series with Wake Forest.
Wake Forest is 9-2 ATS in its last 11 games vs. teams with a winning record.
Florida State is 2-6-1 in the last 9 meetings, all as a favorite.
The UNDER is 22-10 in Florida State's last 32 road games.

#16 Hawaii at San Jose State (ESPN | 8 PM ET)

This will be one of the few times all season Hawaii QB Colt Brennan will have to showcase himself on national television. The Heisman Trophy candidate is nursing an ankle injury (check Pregame Wire for latest status) and left last week's 52-37 win over Utah State in the first half. He was replaced by backup Tyler Graunke, who threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Warriors to their best start since 1981 at 6-0. Hawaii has posted a school-record 10 straight conference wins. EDGE: HAWAII
San Jose State has won three straight games behind QB Adam Tafralis following an 0-3 start in which all of those losses took place on the road. Tafralis has thrown for at least 302 yards in each of the wins, and the Spartans have won their last two at home by a combined 28 points. EDGE: SAN JOSE STATE
Hawaii's last two visits to San Jose have both resulted in wins, but they were decided by a combined 10 points. The Spartans have also limited each of their opponents to less than 300 yards of total offense during their three-game winning streak. EDGE: SAN JOSE STATE
San Jose State is 15-13-1 straight-up in the all-time series with Hawaii.
San Jose State is 9-3 ATS in its last 12 games.
The OVER is 22-5-1 in Hawaii's last 28 conference games.
The UNDER is 17-5-1 in San Jose State's last 23 conference games.

Arizona ace Brandon Webb has been just mediocre against the Rockies during his career with an 8-7 mark and 3.89 ERA, including 1-3 with a 5.77 ERA this year. However, Webb pitched well in a 4-2 win at Colorado on September 28th, a victory that earned the Diamondbacks a postseason berth. He followed that up by allowing just one run and four hits while walking three and striking out nine in seven innings of a 3-1 win over Chicago in Game 1 of the NLDS last Wednesday. SLIGHT EDGE: DIAMONDBACKS
Colorado's Jeff Francis is coming off a huge win in Game 1 of the NLDS at Philadelphia last Wednesday, giving up just two runs and four hits to the Phillies in six innings with two walks and eight strikeouts. Monday
-Grady Sizemore, Indians, hit a leadoff home run to help Cleveland eliminate the New York Yankees with a 6-4 victory.

                          MOVING ON

Cleveland beat the New York Yankees 6-4 on Monday to advance to their first ALCS since 1998, opening Friday night at Boston. The Indians were only 2-5 against the Red Sox this season, but will have aces C.C. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona rested for Fenway Park.

                          SNAPPED

Alex Rodriguez hit a solo homer off in the seventh inning of New York's 6-4 season-ending loss to Cleveland on Monday, ending a streak of 57 consecutive postseason at-bats without an RBI since 2004. He finished 4-for-15 in the series and is mired in an 8-for-59 (.136) playoff spiral dating to his Game 4 home run against Boston in the 2004 ALCS.

                          FAREWELL, JOE?

Paul Byrd and the Indians bullpen closed out New York 6-4 in Game 4 on Monday, completing another first-round debacle for the Yankees that might cost manager Joe Torre his job. Torre managed the Yankees to four World Series titles in his first five years and reached the playoffs in all 12 of his seasons. He sits second to Joe McCarthy on the club's career list with 1,173 wins as a manager

                          SPEAKING

"It's tough. It's exciting. We fought hard and got it done here.'' - Cleveland center fielder Grady Sizemore, after his team eliminated the New York Yankees and advanced to the ALCS. The Indians are seeking their first World Series title since 1948.

                              Navy at Pittsburgh
The Dave Wannstedt era continues to struggle at Pitt. The Panthers come into tonight's with a three-game losing streak that has dropped Wannstedt's record to 13-15 in three seasons. The last two losses have been especially ugly with a 34-14 setback against UConn at home followed by a 44-14 drubbing at Virginia. The problems on offense have been centered around QB where injuries have forced Wannstedt to go with true freshman Pat Bostick. Bostick struggled in the UVA loss and makes his first home start tonight against Navy. There should be opportunities to move the ball against the Midshipmen, who gave up 43 points to Duke earlier in the season. But it will be tough for Pitt to keep up with Navy's triple-option offense that ranks No. 1 in rushing (348.4 ypg) in the country. Navy is coming off its best game of the year (a 31-20 win over Air Force) and looks like a good underdog pick (+4 1/2) according to Dunkel, which has the Midshipmen favored straight up by 4. Dunkel Pick: Navy (+4 1/2).
