I had a nice moneyline hit on Stanford at +11,400 yester....OK, I'm lying. I went 1-2 in CFB on one of the weirdest days in the history of the sport. I've been much better in the NFL and put my unbeaten streak on the line. All of these games were posted earlier at the lines I got at the time.
3* Giants -3 (-125)
Two teams going in opposite directions in this crosstown rivalry. You can call it a neutral field but the crowd will be mostly Giants fans. The Giants' defense has improved dramatically and the Jets have no offense and can't protect the passer. I look for an absolute blowout here.
1* Panthers +3 1/2
It evidently will take more than five weeks to convince people this is 2007, not 2006. The Saints stink. They shouldn't be favored. They looked terrible prior to their bye and will likely come out flat against a Panthers team that has played fairly well against a deceptively tough schedule. For what it's worth, the two NFC pre-season favorites this year (Chicago and New Orleans) are both winless ATS.
1* Colts -9 1/2
Tampa has played very well in key conference games and is vulnerable to a letdown in a less meaningful non-conference game. The Bucs offense is only OK and may not score more than 13. Since Indy is sitting on a breakout offensive game, the big number isn't that imposing.
Opinion only:
Browns (this one might be upgraded to a full play)
Bears
