I think it's very interesting Cleveland is NOT using Sabbathia on three days rest but is saving him for Game 5 (if needed) at home. They could have gotten extra starts out of both CC and Carmona is CC pitched tonight.

For what it's worth, I think it's the right move and the Indians may actually be favored in game five if they lose tonight. I'd like to play the Indians tonight but Byrd is awful. Maybe a play on the over??

I almost started to disagree cause I know Wang left in the 5th inning, and I assumed he didn't have many pitches...but he had 94 pitches.

Not a good trend for the teams looking to pitch the guy on 3 games rest.

          Good stuff GG

Thought I'd post this info here as well
Greek, as a lurker here I would never want to be against a 10* play of yours (and I won't because I see no value in this game for the Yankees when I have a series bet on them) but there is something missing from the argument against pitching on 3 days rest. Lets look at the last 5 years

              006-None
              2005-Lackey vs NYY 5.2 IP 2 H 1 R 4 W 6 K team lost.
              2005-Hudson vs Hou 7.0 IP 6 H 3 R 1 W 5 K team lost.
              2004-Clemens vs Atl 5.0 IP 6 H 2 R 2 W 5 K team lost.
              2004-Oswalt vs Atl 5.0 IP 7 H 2 R 3 W 4 K team won.
              2004-Santana vs NYY 5.0 IP 5 H 1 R 3 W 7 K team lost.
              2004-Brown vs Bos 1.1 IP 4 H 5 R 2 W 1 K team lost.
              2004-Lowe vs NYY 6.0 IP 1 H 1 R 1 W 3 K team won. (2 days rest)
              2003-Beckett vs NYY 9.0 IP 5 H 0 R 2 W 9 K team won.
              2003-Hudson vs Bos 1.0 IP 0 H 0 R 0 W 1 K team lost.
              2003-Zito vs Bos 6.0 IP 4 H 4 R 2 W 4 K team lost.
              2003-RuOrtiz vs CHC 5.0 IP 7 H 2 R 4 W 2 K team won.
              2003-Hampton vs CHC 6.2 IP 7 H 4 R 1 W 7 K team lost.
              2002-Glavine vs SFG 2.2 IP 7 H 7 R 5 W 1 K team lost.
              2002-Millwood vs SFG 5.0 IP 4 H 2 R 0 W 7 K team lost.
              2002-Hudson vs Min 3.1 IP 5 H 7 R 2 ER 2 W 4 K team lost.
              2002-Mulder vs Min 7.0 IP 9 H 2 R 1 W 9 K team lost.
              2002-Washburn vs NYY 5.0 IP 6 H 2 R 1 ER 1 W 2 K team wo
              2002-Lackey vs SFG 5.0 IP 4 H 1 R 1 W 4 K team won.

This appears to be 17 starts and a relief appearance. Of these, only Brown, Glavine, Zito & Hudson had bad outings & Hampton went 6+ and 4 runs. The rest are decent starts, not Cy Young stuff (except for Beckett) but a lot of 5-7 innings 2 or 3 run type starts.
Tell me this, if Wang goes 6 and gives up 3, leaving Joba for 1 and Mo for 2, would you like the Yankees chances against Paul Byrd? If he were facing CC or Carmona, I like the Indians, but Paul (please giveme 6 runs a a game) Byrd, I am not so sure. Like I said, I am not betting the Yankees at -200,especially with a series bet, just wanted to share my take.

Thanks for post this trend Greek. I was going to play the Yankees from just looking at stats. But this trend and the line being so inflated made me switch sides. I asked myself, "why hell can't the Indians win this game." I know its early but the trend live up to its hype. Wang didn't even last 2 innings. Now the Indians just need to finish business. Thanks no matter what happens. Got Indians ML, Indians +1.5, and the over. Hoping for a sweep.
