  • Nice Job Sweet Lou - Asshole!!!!!!!!

Takes Out Zambano After 84 Pitches

Wants Him To Pitch In Game 4 On 3 Days Rest

What If There Is No Game 4 ?????????

The Worst Part Is He Let Zambrano Bat With The Bases Loaded Right Before He Pulled Him!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And In The 3rd He Didnt Have Him Bunt With A Man On Second With No Outs

    Fucking Management 101 Here

And Big Z was piching better in the last 3 innings than he did in the first 3

    Wtf !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He Had To Have Already Had This In Mind When He Took Zambrano Out.probably Before The Game He Had A Plan 6 Innings No More Than 90 Pitches Bring Him Back On 3 Days Rest.problem Is U Have To Change That Plan Sometimes.i Like My Gameplan Just Win The Damn Game.score Tied 1-1 The Way He Was Pitching 1 More Run Could Have Won It For Ya.

I disagree with you. I think it was a good tactical decision. The Cubs brought in a reliever that's been lights out. Had the Cubs won the game I doubt you create this thread.

I also thought it was a wise move- even though I lost on the Cubs. Saving his arm to throw again on 3 days rest.

But the wisest move- would have been to take him out with the bases loaded (pinch hitter) after they just scored a run with 2 outs to tie it. With the rest his relief has had -that in my opinion would have been the correct move!!! That would save the starters arm, have a hot relief squad ready to go, and have a great chance for some runs against a tough pitching opponent. Must take every possible opportunity to score runs.

damn i think so differently ... what the hell matters in game 4 if you lose the first 3?? makes no sense to me what so ever .. and do not say it can not happen ... now you give Ariz the momentum ... everyone knows how important that first game is in a 5 game series ... that game was crucial ... and we blew it .. period!!

Yes- You are exactly right - the first game has the winner at 67% to take the series. But Lou felt he had the relief to back up his plan - and if it worked - he would be in a much better tactical position. It didn't work and maybe if Zammy pitched another inning that might not have worked either. Then you have a battered pitcher with less arm than you were hoping for.
Its anybodies guess but I believe the scenario of replacing him an inning earlier to gain the run advantage would have been the correct move versus what he did! Zammy could have pitched into the next inning or 2 and yes- I would be even happier!! We''ll get a win with Hill on the mound. However, Cubs don't match up well with Zona- unfortunately- just look at the record.

I'm half and half with this.....

One one hand...I felt for sure that Zambrano should have been pinch hit for in the 6th with the bases loaded. And I also thought he should have bunted as well in the 3rd.

I was ok with him lifting him in the 7th....Marmol had an 0.78 ERA in his last 25 innings. He's been lights out.

We win tonight and all the momentum comes back to us...Saturday and Sunday at home, Hill and Zambrano pitching...I'm ok with this. L. Hernandez and Micah Owings go for Arizona...clear advantage IMO to the Cubs.

Tonight is the key...get the split and we're looking very good.

In a 7 game series, game 3 has always been so pivotal. So in a short 5 game series I have always seen Gamme 1 being the most important game to get. It is a race to 3. Thinking about "game 3 or 4" in a short series is not smart in my opinion.

I understand trusting the bullpen and all that, but if you were going to do it, I don't care how good a hitting pitcher Z is, pinch hit with the bases loaded.

I also have said I think the Cubs go as Lilly goes, so he wins this next game and they leave with a split with a rested Z, so all is not lost

This is why I am so calm about this whole thing....we split the series and everything is right with the world.

No doubt in my mind if Lou was saving Z...he should have pinch hit him in the 6th.

Lou should not have taken out Zambrano he needed to get the first win of the series,he was pitching lights out and if he cant come back for game 4 you have him for game 5,and u have marquis, and the rookie kevin hart who had started all year but is now in the bullpen to start game 4, just dont agree with "Sweet Lou" on this one

But here's the issue. There's no saying the Cubs still win the game with Zambrano pitched into the 7, 8 or 9 inning.

Marmol been solid. More solid than Z.

Prior to the Florida game last week he hadn't given up a ER in almost 2 month, dating back to August 10. He had 22+ scoreless innings.

It was a brilliant move. Zambrano's ERA in the 7th inning was 7.63 this season. His ERA from the 7th inning on was 6.05. His ERA from the 5th inning on 6.19. From the 5th inning on Zambrano has not been very good this season.

IMO Cub fans are playing Monday morning QB. As a non-Cubs fan replacing a starter that's been very poor late in the games for a middle reliever that's been SOLID is a sound tactical move.

I agree Frank....I think it was the right move...HOWEVER...if this was the tactical move to make...then why not pinch hit for Zambrano with the bases loaded in the 6th? You got Murton and Ward in on the bench that could have pinch hit.

THAT is the move I don't agree with, along with not have Zambrano bunt in the 3rd...

But all in all I understand why Pinella did what he did with Z and his pitch count.
