  • Weazels MLB Playoff Picks Thread

Rather than opening a new thread every night, I will be posting all my picks here for the playoffs.

The past few weeks I kind of got caught up with all the action in sports and played way too many games. I like a more conservative style and I got away from that. Took a beating in the NFL on Sunday because of it.

Anyhow I'm considering the Cubs/Snakes game to go under the total tomorrow night. I'll report back tomorrow morning if the play is official or not. Waiting on one report to show up in the A.M.

    Lets have a profitable playoffs.

          Rockies/Phillies under 9 -105

Going back and checking stats this is the lowest total set at Citizens Bank Park since June. Both starting pitchers and bullpens are in good form of late. Francis having a 1.26 whip and Hamels a 1.06 whip in his last three starts. Both bullpens have also been pitching well of late. Hamels 13 K's in his last start. Rockies have never seen Hamels, so that chaneup migh present some problems. Francis has gotten hit in his two appearances against the Phils this season. In two games this season the Phils have touched him up for 14 earned runs and 20 hits in 8.1 innings of work. I think the left hander can neutralize Utley and Howard here. I like the under.

          Cubs + 113

D-Backs are going to have to prove me wrong. They make the playoffs, yet they were outscored on the season. I really think that is an important stat. They are also without veteran Orlando Hudson which hurts offensivley. Zambrano is in great form and Webb has been decent of late. I think the edge here goes to the Cubs bullpen. I like the Cubbies.

split my two games yesterday for 0 units.

Got two games I like today.

                      Rockies/Phillies under 10 -105
Both starters have been in excellent form as of late. Morales owning a .76 WHIP and Kendrick a 1.17 WHIP in their last three starts. Both bullpens are also in great form with the Rockies having a 2.09 ERA and the Phillies having a 3.24 ERA in their last ten games. At the plate the Phillies are batting a mear .242 BA in their last 10 games. The Rockies bats aren't quite as effective on the road this season batting .260
Add in the fact that Ed Hickox is behind home plate this afternoon who has a 12-19 O/U statline. Many are going to think that this one goes over after yesterdays pitchers duel since there are two of the higher scoring offenses this season. I believe the value is in the under here.

                      Yankees/Indians over 8.5 -122
Wang hasn't been nearly as good on the road this seaon as at home. He has a 4.91 ERA on the road compared to a 2.75 ERA at home. Wang's WHIP is also much higher than average in his last three starts with a 1.55. C.C Sabathia has been pitching well of late or average for his standards. The Yankees pen has been horrible of late while the Indians have been average. Both teams have been hitting the shit out of the ball latley. I think this one finds a way to get over the total here with a lean to the Indians.
