National League
National League is weak and wide open. Everyone has question marks. Power pitching usually does well in the playoffs along with teams that can execute bunts, hit and runs, etc. Got to be able to manufacture runs. At least one power hitter is usually needed. Speed on the bases also is very important and of course a good bullpen.
Diamondbacks - young, inexperienced team. Lots of uncertainty after Webb, and the offense doesn't scare me. World Series Appearance: Verry little hope 10%
Phillies - Offense is best in the National League. They have both power and speed in the lineup but they will go only as far as the starting pitching will take them. Love Hamels. We'll see how he fares making his first postseason appearance. Kendrick has good stuff and Moyer is inconsistent. Love the way Brett Myers has been closing games.
World Series Appearance: Decent 30%
Cubs - The Cubbies are my pick to go to the World Series. They have the starting pitching in Biz Z, Lilly, and Hill. They have power in the lineup but not much speed other than Soriano. On numbers the bullpen has been very good this season but Ryan Dumpster can be shaky.
World Series Appearance: Good 40%
Rockies - Pretty average staff at best with Francis, Jimenez, and Fogg. Good lineup with speed and power. Bullpen is pretty shaky. One thing they got going for them is they have been hot as hell of late. I think the train stops here.
World Series Appearance: Slight 20%
D-Backs vs Cubs
Prediction: Cubs in 3
Tomorrows night game is key. Zambrano vs Webb should be a great low scoring game. If the Cubs win the 1st one, I think a sweep is likley. Otherwise Cubs in 5
Phillies vs Rocks
Prediction: Phillies in 4
Love Hamels. Think he will be one of the elite Pitchers of the next decade. Think he is a big time pitcher who you want on the hill. Phillies are a better team.
Cubs vs Phillies
Prediction: Cubs in 7
Tough one for me to call. Think the Cubs have a deeper staff and bullpen. Cubbies in the World Series!!!
