            Six-pack for Sunday

Heading into the last day of baseball's regular season.......

-- San Diego clinches playoff spot with win in Milwaukee Sunday. Of course, they could have clinched Saturday too.

-- How weird is it that Tony Gwynn Jr kept Padres from their playoff clincher yesterday? His dad is greatest player in the history of the Padre franchise.

-- Mets, Phillies are tied; if they're still tied tonight, there is playoff game tomorrow in Philly.

-- Colorado is also still alive, if San Diego loses. Rockies are 12-1 in their last thirteen games.

-- Craig Biggio caught two innings for Astros last night, the first time he caught in majors since 1991. Today is the last game of Biggio's brilliant career.

-- If Padres lose, and Rockies, Mets, Phillies all win, there is total chaos, as you will have tie for NL East, plus three-way tie for the Wild Card. Fun for the whole family.

            Six-pack for Saturday

            NFL trends for Week 4

-- Lions are 1-5-1 vs spread as underdog in division games.

-- Raiders are 4-12 as road dog in non-division games.

-- Tampa Bay covered only eight of last 25 road games.

-- Falcons are 3-6 as home dog vs non-division foes.

-- Packers are 18-11-1 vs spread in last 30 road games.

-- Rams are 3-9 as road dog in non-division games.

Sunday's List of 13: Wrapping up college football Saturday

              13) How would you like to be televising Texas-Oklahoma tilt next week? Big game, then both squads go down in upsets in game before. Now? Not such a big game.

              12) Auburn has Urban Meyer's number.
Kansas State has Mack Brown's number.
              Everyone has Charlie Weis' number.

              11) At least Notre Dame finally better the spread this week.

              10) If you put Notre Dame uniforms on South Florida's record, they're #3 in country, right behind USC, LSU. Bulls have win at Auburn, win over West Virginia; they're very good.

              9) Don't be misled by USC's 27-24 win; Washington scored at 0:35 mark, never got ball back. An easier win than 27-24; plus, it gives Trojans wins at Nebraska, at Washington.

              8) Brutal loss for Oregon, as they fumbled inside 1-yard line, trying to stretch ball over goal line (coaches can't possibly be teaching that technique, can they?) in 31-24 home loss to Cal.

              7) Who dressed Minnesota last night? They had gold pants and jerseys-- lets just be nice and say they didn't look good.

              6) Kansas State had a kick return for TD, a punt return for TD and a defensive TD, as they KO'd Colt McCoy for second yr in a row...........Army also had kick return and punt return for TDs, as they covered as home favorite vs woeful Temple.

              5) Double digit dogs that won Saturday: Indiana (+11) won at Iowa, Auburn (+18.5) won in the Swamp, K-State (+14.5) won in Austin, Colorado (+22) beat Oklahoma in Boulder (go play intramurals, Bob Stoops!!!!), East Carolina (+10.5) won 37-35 in Houston, and Maryland (+16.5) won at Rutgers 34-24.

              4) LSU only led Tulane 10-9 at the half. They play Florida next week in Death Valley. Sounds like fun.

              3) Last year, Cincinnati burst Rutgers' bubble with a big win; next week, the undefeated Bearcats venture into New Jersey to play the Garden State's Scarlet Knights. Revenge is sweet.

              2) Michigan State gained 564 yards at Wisconsin, still lost to the Badgers 37-34. I know you are what your record says you are, but Wisconsin is a terrible team, for an unbeaten.

              1) How in the name of Donald Igwebuike does Clemson not have a full-time kicker? Their kicker played in a soccer game at home Friday night, then drove by himself to Atlanta for the game at Georgia Tech. What if he got hurt playing soccer? Are they kidding? The kid was 1-5 Saturday, by the way, in a game they lost 13-3.
