On paper this looks like a game of two good football teams as UConn is
4-0 and Akron 3-1. The truth is that UC has played really nobody, and
Akron although only losing 1 game is being outscored by 5 points on avg per game.
The Huskies hold a decided edge on offense (61-113), defense (47-79), and special teams (35-106) respectively. They did win last week at Pitt by almost three touchdowns, but the Panthers were playing without their best QB and game
breaking WR.
The Zips average 242 yards of total offense, but only 97 of that came on
the ground. UConn is much more versatile and can crank it up with an
average of almost 400 yards per outing. UConn's QB Lorenzen throws for 222 ypg and completes 64%. In oppositon, Akron's inexperienced QB Jackson (1st start this week) threw for 99 yards and only 35% completions last week in the come from behind victory over Kent State.
Please note this is the Zips 4th game on the road this year in week 5. They are 0-10 SU after playing rival Kent, and 3-7
ATS in their last 10 on grass. Huskies are 4-0 as a home favorite off a double
digit ATS win like last week.
Take UConn, (who is probably the worst
soon to be 5-0 team in the nation) to win and cover the 13.5 Saturday in Storrs.
