  • 2 years in a row now....

that the Tigers have a very impressive team and fade once September hits. I know this year we can chalk some of it up to injuries and last year was inexperience. Honestly though, these guys have been through it now a second time and even with injuries, they have a good enough team that they should not be doing this.

Aside from players being hurt, any other reasons anyone can see this team nose diving now two years in a row?? I would only say they lack veteran leadership. I think if Kenny Rogers was in there the whole year this would be different. Anything else?

IMO the long season. Young pitchers aren't used to the long MLB season.

I disagree to a certain extent. They have faded overall since the all star break, but were playing good ball up until the Cleveland series the last two weeks, and even at that they had the lead in all three games in Cleveland.

I just think that they had too many injuries at one time and had a bad run because of it. And just to throw this out for a discussion, Jim Leyland is way overrated IMO. He pulls some shenanigans with the lineup on several occassions that I consider must win games. You can disagree with me, but I follow the tigers 162 games a year and I think Dombrowski has far more to do with their success than Leyland. Weigh in if you like.

Personally to take the "Half empty" approach, I think last year was a fluke and that this season is more representative of where the Tigers really belong.
