ok ill make it short as i can is about capping games now i have been betting sports now for about 17-18 yrs and when i read numbers of threads about guys like my self capping games he or she says yeah i have TEXAS WINNING BY 18 OR MY NUBERS SHOW ME THAT CAL. SHOULD WIN BY AT LEAST 20 PTS. NOW WERE THE HELL OUR THESE PEOPLE COMING UP WITH THESE NUMBERS????
IM JUST REALLLY WONDERING HOW MOST PEOPLE IN HERE CAPP THERE OWN GAMES,LIKE ME I USALLY GO BY TRENDS STREAKS,OR MAINLY LOOKING AT WHAT MOST PEOPLE ARE PICKING IN HERE AND STUFF LIKE THAT

I HAVE ALWAYS WONDER WERE PEOPLE COME UP WITH THESE NUMBERS AT PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are a lot of people who create their own systems for capping games. They take into effect a lot of things such as rankings, home/away, all americans, rushing ypg, passing ypg, defensive stats, and so on.

When it all comes down to it, you have a 50-50 chance of being on the right side and in the end all systems eventually need tweeking to keep up with linesmakers.

I know this does not help much but I do not have any systems that have proven they can win in the long run.

They use power rankings similar to Dunkel or Sagarin from USA today.

I cap strictly based on systems. I prefer that method because it helps eliminate any emotion.

There's many power ratings on the internet. I mentioned two. Dunkel and USA Today. Some of the football newsletter have power ratings.

In addition to those, yes people create their own. I have had some Excel versions of systems and they are very complicated I found. Better off going with basic trends and systems people post or you find on the night like Frank mentioned. Unless you create your own it is hard to take someone else's and figure out how to tweak it just right.

I find that if you put all the teams on the spread list on a dart board, and then put on a blind fold and throw a dart at the board, you can have pretty decent sucess

Taking the yards (Rushing and Passing) produced and defended. the scoring opportunities and production and defense to scoring, number of seniors on a team, rating of the teams played, home and away stats, power of conference stats and dunkel stats.
As far as systems go- they are a main source of service plays and 10 picked Philly while 3 had Wash. As Frank says Systems and past data of trends carry no emotions. However, the game itself is full of emotions and swings. A coach like Saban and Urban Meyer and Spurrier carry a certain swagger in their games.
For instance- the last 5 out of 7 times we Gators have traveled to Mississippi we have lost. Thanx to Ron Zook - which cost him his job. A system might show that the Gators do not play well in Miss. but Meyer is not into what happened before. He stays steadfast on preparing a team with so much speed that Miss will look helpless this weekend.

My system says Texas A&M over Miami. Miami has such a flat attitude in its first games that I do not see any light-em-up QB'ing to push them over the top against A&M. Other Fla teams have caught up to the Seminoles and Canes.
