I hit my only NFL play yesterday, a 2* on the Patriots, to help salvage a poor weekend in which I went an awful 1-5 on college picks.
1* Redskins +7 (-115)
One touchdown is a lot of points in a divisional matchup and assumes Philadelphia is the class of the NFC East. I don't make that assumption. The Redskins defense isn't bad and should keep this one close and an upset isn't impossible.

1* Pirates/Padres OVER 8 1/2 (-120)
Pittsburgh starter Van Benschoten has been lit up for 21 earned runs his last seven innings and he hasn't made it out of the third inning in any of his last three starts. San Diego hit the ball well over the weekend against three good Giants pitchers. The Padres' pitcher is a rookie making his second start of the year.
1* Mariners/A's OVER 9 (-100)
Oakland is on an offensive tear, scoring 27 in their last three games and 63 in their last 8! Seattle starter Batista is very inconsistent and has thrown in some bad starts lately. Oakland's Haren is NEVER dominant and always gives up a few runs. He's given up 35 hits his last three starts covering only 17 innings.
Opinion only: Bluejays
Early college play for weekend:
1* Kansas -30
I play Kansas every week and they've been my only salvation in CFB. They have a great offense and are pounding on patsies. They've scored 159 points in three games! Here's the key: Kansas is off next week so has no reason to look ahead. On the other hand, Florida International may have a huge letdown coming off the game against crosstown rival Miami. Kansas by 50.
