Saturday's List of 13: Random weekend knowledge......

              13) Was it the wildest 9th inning ever? Twins-White Sox was 4-4 after eight innings, then Minnesota scored six times in the top of 9th. White Sox tied game in bottom half, then won it in bottom of 13th. Very strange game.

              12) Milwaukee Brewrs' 3B Ryan Braun might win NL Rookie of the Year, but he isn't the only brewer in his family; his mom is an actual brewer for Anheuser-Busch.

              11) Greg Maddux has won 10+ games 20 years in a row. Wow.

              10) There is baseball/math wizard who claims that pitching for Dave Duncan lowers your ERA by an average of 0.35 points.

              9) Jason Kidd's career record in international games: 32-0.

              8) Sports Illustrated dedicated five pages of its football issue to NFL fantasy leagues; some places still consider fantasy to be a form of gambling, so thats interesting.

              7) Peter King ranked the top 500 players in NFL, really tough thing to do: his top 4: Manning-Brady-LT-Julius Peppers.

              6) Denver long snapper Mike Leach has played 4.5 years as a Bronco, has made 641 successful snaps, and only been on as a tight end for thirteen plays. In 4.5 years.

              5) Former Viking coach Bud Grant used to say, "Its not who you play, its when you play them." Last year, the Jets lost to 8-8 Jacksonville by 41, beat 8-8 Green Bay by 28. Looking at a schedule before the season, to see how hard it is, is fruitless, because things change so much once the season starts.

              4) Bills, Texans are only AFC teams that haven't been in the playoffs in this decade.

              3) Ravens allowed 19.5 yards per game less than any other team in NFL last year. Thats an impressive stat.

              2) Its a little odd that Jacksonville imported Dirk Koetter and Mike Shula, a pair of college guys who got fired last season, to jazz up their offense. Cutting Byron Leftwich, after he was starter in all the summer games, also makes very little sense.

              1) Chiefs are only NFL team that plays both its first two and last two games on the road.
