I disagree! Early season loses don't hurt as much in the polls. Granted it was to a Sub-division team but all will be forgotten if they can run the table.

In no am I suggesting they will run the table.

            Frank,

You can't tell me that a 1 loss Michigan team at the end of the season would get the nod over lets say a 1 loss Florida, LSU, Oklahoma etc that maybe lost in the conference title game can you? This wasn't "just a loss", and will never be viewed that way. It was the greatest upset in the history of college football. I could not in good faith if I was a voter or part of the process give Michigan a shot at a national title given the fact that they lost to a Division II team, no matter how good they are. Doesn't matter. It shouldn't have happened.

Michigan's goal and it was a legit goal was to be in the BCS championship game. There is no way on god's green earth that even a 1 loss Michigan team will have enough in the polls to warrent that. They would have to be the only 1 loss team in the nation.

Now what are they playing for? Pride? Another trip to the Rose Bowl maybe? Possible.....but they still wont' be happy. They blew their chance at the ultimate prize.....and in saying that...have zero motivation to put in that extra 10% maybe needed to win a tight game against a Penn State, or Wisconsin, or Ohio State.

Essentially IMO....they're done. They could run the table....I highly doubt it now, but they could. But they were exposed so badly by Apple State...that I think another 1 or even 2 losses are very very likely given the right opponent.

Michigan's season is over. Regardless if they run the table or not. No top 10 team will have a loss to a Div. 1-aa opponent so Mich strenght of schedule will mean nothing. if USC,fla, okla,WVA,L'ville and on down the line all have 1 loss. they all will get the nod over Mich due to mich losing @ home to a 1aa opponent.

Michigan thank you for participating in the 2007 NCAA football season, GL in 08'

                Bingo....that's my thoughts EXACTLY.

It's gonna have to be awfully tough to get a team after one week to refocus on a new goal like winning the big 10 or making the rose bowl after shitting themselves versus a Div II school at home.

I'd be SHOCKED if they ran the table the rest of the way

Notre Dame is alot worse mainly because of their lack of talent. They simply dont have the players. Michigan has the talent edge in nearly every game they play. The offense is good enough to out score anyone but getting two field goals blocked points out how bad the coaching really is. As bad as they played they still should have won the game on Saturday!

I've seen stranger things when it comes to football pollsters

Michigan tumbles out of Top 25 after upset
Thud! The final fallout from a disastrous opening weekend for Michigan came Tuesday, when the Wolverines dropped all the way out of The Associated Press Top 25, an unprecedented fall from No. 5 to unranked. Since the AP poll expanded to 25 teams in 1989, no team has taken a bigger tumble in one week

South Florida will be a tuff out. I still think Auburn wins, but it wont be easy. IMO
