Michigan's loss can be attributed to their coaching staff.

I live in Apple steak country, and they have had this game on their radar since spring practice. Their goal was to make a good showing for themselves and the Southern Conference. They are obviously well coached, and were well prepared.

Michigan on the other hand looked at this game as a scrimmage with a far inferior team. They were too busy looking ahead to adequately prepare for this small school from somewhere in the mountains of North Carolina. I lay this loss on Carr and his staff. To allow this to happen blows my mind. Appalachian has won the Division II-A championship for 2 years in a row. They usually open up with an ACC team. Last year they lost to NC State 23-10. They have played ACC teams close, even beating Wake or Duke once or twice in the past.
If Michigan prepares for this game, they win by 2-3 touchdowns easy.

No way this should have happened. Michigan is still a very good team. I guess they could run the table, and get a nice bowl bid, but it is a shame their title chances were blown by one of the biggest coaching blunders ever.

I agree to a certain degree, but let me say this.....APP States receivers and backs were flat out faster than the michigan db's......

Notre Dame's season was over at graduation.

There is zero pressure on them to do anything but improve after this past week.

But wayne if i were a Michigan fan i would feel real bad due to the high expectations.....That has to suck.....Not being a dick, but i remember when the Giants won the division the 1st year with Dan Reeves and we opened with the Cowboys and we were picked by everyone and we got slapped like 41-0 to start the season...felt terrible

I'm with ya tony. It sucked really bad the 1st hour. I'm not kidding, i was in shock for about 60 minutes straight! lol

I thought this year was set up perfectly to be our own. I really did. As the season approached though i came to the conclusion that (IMO), teams like LSU and USC were clearly better. Knowing the heartbreak Carr has given me over the years, something told me they were not winning it all anyway. I'm over it and it's all good. The jokes are well deserved by the Wolverines and i'm not affected by them. I still think App. St really could compete with alot of the Top 25 teams though and i really mean that. With that said, i'm still living a dream ... (10-1), we beat Ohio St and we go win the Rose Bowl over Cal.

I know it seems far fetched right now but my expectations could change weekly too.

Talk to me in a month and i might be praying for a GMAC Bowl bid! lol

One thing is sure, Michigan fall out of the top 25 is warranted and ND never belonged in the top 40.

Michigan had 479 offensive yards, and still could't win. They out rushed and out passed their opponent and lost at HOME.

ND was out rushed by 269 YARDS!!!! They Netted 122 yards on 63 plays (their worst output in 5 years). That is only a little over 2 YARDS A PLAY. THEY HAD NEGATIVE 8 RUSHING YARDS on 41 rushes (They did not stop trying to run). 15 passes for 130 yards, less then 10 yards a pass. This from an offensive genius with supposedly the SMARTEST players in all the land.

              ND was easily worse

Couldn't disagree more...but then again...the post is not surprising considering.

The only extra pressure is in Charlie Weiss's low pot!!! That lower pot belly looks like it is at about 155 PSI and was designed for 44 PSI.....I would stand clear of that for sure....If he sneezes that Zipper could fly off like schrapnel and kill someone!!!

they are a well coached football team (South Florida), but many times in week 1 teams go very vanilla (not showing much) or just do not get off the schnide well......That is why i think auburn prevails

I agree. Their first team is solid. It would have been the depth that would have eventually worn them down
