i met him a couple times in green bay (my friend was mike sherman)...he was a nice guy....alot skinnier than i thought.....

i have admired his bravado but he gets such a pass from fans and the media in green bay he would not get anywhere else.....He has made many risky decisions his whole career.....2 years ago he down right stunk......throwing multiple picks that nobody was near the receiver....a few in the end zone after long drives and many that went coast to coast.....

Big Z is alright....but a head case. cubs knew that going in. He's 190% emotions.

Cubs had a news conference today and Zambrano apologized.

He's human, he's only what 25-26 years old?

But Wayne your right....he deserved to be boo'd based on the last 5 starts. An ace is supposed to win those games....especially when we had a chance to gain a game on both milwaukee and st louis.

I don't live in GB and i'm not a Packers fan either but i gave him a free pass too. He didn't look good at all, i agree. I can't help it though, i still loved watching him play. Even when he was throwing all those picks, he would have me on the edge of my seat thinking he will thread the next one in there. His Elusiveness, gun slinging arm and emotion playing this game has truly been fun to watch for me. He was never fast but he could fool you with his feet very easily.

Last year i loved seeing him play better and i hope he can do it again with limited talent around him. Once he leaves, Green Bay will be very boring and disinteresting to me. My only wish was that the Packers would have stepped up and signed a receiver, running back or something more to help him out in his final year(s)!

BIG Z started the season slow ...than became dominant until the BIG contract and has sucked ever since. If this keeps up we will simply have to deport him. lol

Alittle interesting tid bit that was in the st louis paper last week.

NEWS ITEM: Carlos Zambrano agreed to a $91 million, five-year extension for the Chicago Cubs, who expect him to be their ace well into the next decade.

HUMMEL'S VIEW: As of this weekend, the Cubs were only 14-12 in games that Zambrano had started this season, hardly the stuff of aces.

Sometimes, money doesn't guarantee much of anything. Witness the 6-8 record the New York Yankees had compiled when Roger Clemens, who makes $4.7 million a month, was starting.

The Cubs were also 14-12 when Ted Lilly pitched and 11-14 behind Rich Hill. So, who is the best pitching bet when the Cubs are playing? Jason Marquis, of course. The Cubs were 17-9 in the former Cardinal's 26 starts.

I am pretty sure that Marquis has won once since this was in the paper. And of course, Big Z has lost at least once since.

Who'd da thunk Marquis has been your best starter sort to speak. I'd still take Zambrano over any of the others in the Cubs rotation in the long run. He needs to learn to control his emotions when he is on the mound.

Besides, I am a Cards fan, so if the Cubs overpayed another player, I'm cool with that.

he's a basket case, and has proven it on the field, in the clubhouse, in the dugout, and with the Media......His antics are uncalled for and classless......Nothing to do with his Pitching Potential, notice I did say Potential.......Hasn't proved his worth yet.....IMO......
