                Dunkel

                LA Dodgers at Chicago Cubs
The August heat appears to have worn Carlos Zambrano down as the Cubs' ace was a woeful 0-4 with a 7.06 ERA in his five August starts. Lou Piniella is certainly hoping Zambrano can turn it around in September and will get a shot today against the Dodgers, a team he has fared well against in the past ( 2-1, 1.53 ERA in five career starts). But the Dodgers appear to have stopped their own August swoon and come in having won five of their last seven. And Esteban Loaiza makes his L.A. debut after two impressive outings in Oakland (1-0, 1.84 ERA). Los Angeles looks like a decent underdog pick (+150) according to Dunkel, which has the Dodgers favored straight up by 1 1/2. Dunkel Pick: LA Dodgers (+150). Here are all of today's games.

San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies (-136, 9)

The Giants went coast to coast this weekend, finishing up their series in Washington on Sunday before heading to Colorado for three games with the Rockies this week.

San Francisco is 29-40 away from AT&T Park after dropping two of three to the Nationals this weekend. The Giants own the second-worst offense on the road, batting .246 and averaging only 4.3 runs per road game.

San Fran’s offense should get veteran slugger Barry Bonds back, who is probable for this afternoon after sitting out Sunday. Manager Bruce Bochy isn’t playing his aging players much this time of year as he evaluates younger members of the team for next season.

                          Pick: Rockies -136

Los Angeles Dodgers at Chicago Cubs (-158, N/A)

There are plenty of new faces in Dodger blue since this year’s trade deadline. The latest addition, Esteban Loaiza, makes his debut this afternoon in Chicago. The former Oakland Athletics pitcher was dealt to Los Angeles this past week.

The right-hander has made only two starts this season after missing most of the year due to multiple injuries. During his limited appearance, Loaiza has given up only three runs on 10 hits in just under 15 innings of work, all against the Toronto Blue Jays.

He is 2-2 against the Cubs during his career with a 3.94 ERA, but hasn’t faced Chicago since 2005.

                          Pick: Dodgers +150

Kansas City Royals at Texas Rangers (-112, 9 ½)

Zack Greinke's mental state was a big question for the Royals rotation at the start of the season. After a couple of rough outings, Kansas City demoted the young righty to the bullpen.

Now management wants to gauge its starters for next season and Greinke has returned to the rotation. He hasn’t given up a run and allowed only six hits in seven innings of limited work since his rejoining the starting staff.

Kansas City is expected to up Greinke’s pitch count for tonight’s start and he should go past the fourth inning, unlike his past two appearances.

                          Pick: Royals +104
