On a great roll right now hitting the last 5 straight CFL posted picks so hoping to keep things going into week 10. Both the East and the West resume play this week and we are back to 4 games per weekend again. There is one game on Friday night, one on Sunday afternoon, and two more on Labour Day (Monday) both in the afternoon aswell. I like this pick on the Canadian football field for Friday night:
British Columbia Lions -4.0 (-105) (2 units ) STARTS @ 10:30 PM EST
The Montreal Alouettes travel to Vancouver to face the B.C. Lions on Friday night. The Alouettes have won 4 in a row but the last three have all been at home and more importantly all vs. teams with losing records in Toronto, Calgary, and Hamilton. They now go on the road to face one of the best teams in the CFL in the Lions. The Lions havent won a game since they got their 5th straight win to start the season 5-0. They have since went 0-2-1. Partly in regards to the fact that they have faced tough competition in their two losses in Saskatchewan and Winnipeg. B.C lost to both of these teams at home and it was the first time they had lost 2 straight home games since the 2004 season. Are they gonna lose 3 in a row at home? I highly doubt it! Jarious Jackson is the QB for now as Buck Pierce is out with a separated shoulder and he has played decent but its B.C. defense that will keep them strong in this one. Also, in case Jackson cant handle the load the Lions just signed veteran QB Ben Sankey. Sankey played for the United Indoor Football league and was 2007's most valuable player and offensive player of the year. He threw 47 touchdowns and 2,951 passing yards for the Tennessee Valley/Rock River Raptors. Also, Alouettes RB Jarrett Payton left Saturday's win over Hamilton in the third quarter with bruised ribs. He has been reported to have said that he will play in Friday night's game but its tough to play RB with bruised ribs. The past month or so Montreal's offense has been coming around with the help of Payton, QB Anthony Calvillo and WR Ben Cahoon. All is know is that the defending champion defense in the Lions are not gonna let Cahoon dance all around them for easy completions in which I have watched him catch in previous games. Ben Cahoon is Calvillo's favorite target and when you shut Cahoon down, you shut down this offense. The Lions are coming off a bye while the Als played just last Saturday. They have had 2 weeks to recover and prepare for this Grey Cup rematch and I like the Lions in this one with a new healthy 12 everywhere. B.C. does do not lose their 3rd sraight home game and gets back to their winning ways to keep pace with the Riders in the West. The Lions show why they deserved the Grey Cup over the Alouettes once again and win this one by at least a TD!!!
AS ALWAYS, GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!
