HOT
Tim Wakefield (Boston Red Sox) – BoSox bettors are loving Wakefield (15-10, 4.35 ERA) right now. Mr. Reliable is 8-2 both straight up and on the moneyline in his last 10 starts and looks to put up his third straight win – and first 16-win record in the bigs – when the Red Sox visit the White Sox this afternoon as -119 road faves. Opponents are scoreless in 14 innings against the veteran righty.
Tim Hudson (Atlanta Braves) – Once upon a time, the Atlanta Braves' starting rotation was a who's who of Cy Young winners. Tim Hudson is obviously not one to be outdone by his predecessors. He's making a strong case as Atlanta's top pitcher and goes for his sixth straight win against the Cards tonight. At 15-5 straight up (3.07 ERA), he is one win away from tying Josh Beckett for the most wins in the bigs. Since his last loss on June 19 against the Red Sox, Hudson has a 2.57 ERA in 11 starts. The Braves are 11-0 on the moneyline in that span.
COLD
Matt Morris (Pittsburgh Pirates) – Even Pittsburgh is warm in August, so you can't blame Morris' poor performance on his move from sunny San Francisco to Steeltown. The righty is 0-1 in four starts with the Pirates and hasn't recorded a win since July 11 when he was still with the Giants. The Bucs are +101 road dogs against the Astros tonight.
Ted Lilly (Chicago Cubs) – In his last two outings, Lilly is a measly 0-1 and has given up nine earned runs. On Monday, he lasted six innings against the Cards and allowed five runs and seven hits. The Cubs are -115 favorites when they travel to Chase Field to face the D-Backs, but Lilly is 1-3 in his last four games when the Cubs were favored. After a Friday night pitching change, Arizona will counter with Doug Davis who has won three of his last four outings against the Cubbies.
