Lets face it-all players are overpaid relative to what they do in society;some are simply more overpaid than others.
With that in mind, I will admit that as a sox diehard, before season started, I thought Sox spent too much On Matsuzhaka, Drew and Lugo.
On the other hand, the Sox can afford to do it, and are simply doing what all other teams to-trying to put together the best team they can.
In the same vein, I was pretty disgusted at end of season considering what they paid Beckett relative to his performance and his proneness to giving up a lot of homeruns for a good part of the season;needless to say, this year, considering his salary relative to others who are receiving about the same, he is having a great year.
I certainly believe it to be in the realm of possibility that the same thing could transpire with Matsu next season and for seasons to come.

I don't like the Yankees but i've said respectful things about their players, manager and organization at least 100 times here.

I love sports and i love my teams but i can also respect other players and teams for what they do know matter how much i want them to lose. I wish i could talk more to TMAC about the Yanks & Sox because i like to have fun with it but his hatred in the conversation truly does cloud every conversation he has or comments towards Boston in other threads do the same. It would kill him to say anything positive about Boston or their players. I saw him do it once and it was because of a cancer victim (John Lester) and that was the only reason.

What will make it worth it for him TMAC, A Cy Young, Rookie of the Year award and a (20-2) record? It's just ignorant. If you are going to talk about people not worth 100 million 4 months into a 6 year contract then that means you have proclaimed him a bust already and his numbers prove the total opposite of that. If you want to talk about a 100 million contract that was not worth it or a bust, why don't you concentrate on a real one like Mike Vick.

For the record, it isn't my 100 million and i totally love having Dice-K on my team. Yes, it's worth it imo and i have yet to hear one other Sox fan say otherwise.

This is where your ignorance comes in to play. Boston has supposedly already earned over 30 million back on that 100 in deals with Japan (Sponsors & merchandise) and we are 4 months in to a 6 year deal. By year 6, he will have been a free player because he will easily bring back more than 100 million in overseas revenue that was not there. So, is it worth it all? No doubt.

By the end of Dice-K's contract, the Sox are expected to make 200+ million in revenue on Dice-K alone. Will i take him and his numbers for 6 years and get paid 100 million to do it? Umm ... is that a stupid question? Yes, i will and i love the fact my team is building a bigger bank account with it. Yup, real dumb move spending 100 million on this guy TMAC!
