  • MLB Totals Atlanta/Cinncy

Continuing an awesome 10*record (Husker where are you- just kidding) after the all-star break on totals in MLB. We won on Chi White Sox/KC last night. Jenks record of 41 straight retired came to an end and placed a man on 3rd with an out to go - so it was not without its moments.

Today if the pitchers and umpire stay true to form than we shall inherit another egg for the basket.

Reyes and Livingston have only 2 unders in the last 15 games played combined (Reyes has only 5 2007 starts) So one under from each pitcher with the rest going wildly over.

The trends should help qualify this matchup and if 11 runs is too much I understand- I could have bought the 10 1/2 for -145 but looking at the scores I felt comfortable with the 11 @ -125.

The Reds will hand the ball to starter Bobby Livingston (3-3, 4.70 ERA), who hopes to bounce back after allowing five runs - four in the first inning - and a career-worst 11 hits in five innings of Thursday's 12-4 road loss to the Chicago Cubs. He was coming off an 8-3 win over San Diego in which he lasted a career-high 8 1-3 innings.

"I was kind of frustrated with that first inning," Livingston told the Reds' official Web site. "It was a kick in the butt. What can you do? Everybody has one."

Livingston won his only previous start against the Braves on July 16, when he allowed two runs in five innings of a 10-3 victory in Atlanta. Tuesday's start will be just his third at home and 10th overall this season.

Atlanta is calling up rookie Jo-Jo Reyes (0-1, 8.72 ERA) to start Tuesday in place of Chuck James. The Braves decided to skip James, who gave up four homers in 3 2-3 innings in his last start on Thursday, so he can rest an inflamed left shoulder.

Reyes gave up 22 runs in 21 2-3 innings in five starts for the Braves before he was shipped back to Triple-A Richmond on Aug. 3. He has made two starts since being demoted, winning both while allowing one unearned run in 13 innings.

"He's getting them out easy," Cox said.

Spear- Is this one of those games that one pitchers scene is coming off a bad outing and reaching down for a better game versus a pitcher showing up well in the minors - now he can show what he can do in the majors-- sheesh -hope not.
The bats have certainly been swinging and I don't see the comparison with minor league hopefuls! Tough to overcome mistakes in this type of game!

Here's a little more stat info on the BHP ump.
games he calls average almost 11.5 runs. He calls just a little more than 61% of pitches strikes. Those are pretty good over stats.
        Good luck, Spear.
