He's no good if he can't have a couple shots of Jack before the game.

Actually, he's not hurt now... He just rides the bench because the yankees have better players. He jacked a homerun yesterday in the upperdeck.. If the yankees trade him, they are gonna pay a shitload of his contract....

P.S. Holy shit, i'm having a sports conversation with wayne!! You got email also

            doc,

i said that. NYY wont get anything in return for him and have to pay 1/2 his contract. if i was NYY i'd keep him. use him as a DH and get rid of that bum Giambi. JMO

Boston must be a really fun place to play and Francona must also be a fun manager to play for. Damon talked constantly about missing Boston when he left, Millar wants to be back there badly and remember Mirabelli in S.D. ? He cried all the time about wanting to go back to Boston about a week after being traded. Now Schilling has a business here and has said he wants to stay badly and i hear Beckett loves it. Damon was seriously a cult hero around here. Every game i saw with him at the park, he was always the star of the show. It was unbelieveable, the Rock star persona he had. He has to mis it.

I don't think so. They want to move one of Abreu, Damon or Giambi to write the big check for A-Rod (as long as it is an extension to his current deal with the Rangers flipping the bill, and they don't have to eat all of the current players salary that they move).

Giambi is near impossible to move, Abreu has played well of late, but doubt they can move him. Therefore, even though Damon has one of the worst arms in baseball, if they pick up just a few million he will have value to someone next year to continue to stock pile the minors.

Cabrera has proved he is a strong fit both defensively and what he brings at the plate. So Damon will never see CF, and for the three players mentioned about, $42M+ is a little much to carry.

nobody will take on his contract, again, unless if the yanks cover that too... We are stuck with giambi again next year...

Yankees have come out and clearly said if he opts out of his contract to see what's out there, they are done with him. Arod is going to opt out and see what's there. Will the Yankees live by their words at that point? I think they will.

Damon has played decent the last 28 days, and while a full time player would have had 90 - 100 AB, he has played pretty regularly and well. His season long injuries to his legs and other small things seem to be better

                      AB 79
                      Runs 19

I am not 100% that he will opt out. They MAY be able to convince him that they will pay a premium above open market to stay as long as they can keep that flood of Texas money coming.

I mean what does he or his agent care if he gets 6 year $180M in the open market, or if he keeps his current contract and the Yanks extend him, giving him say 6 year total for $210 M?

I think the Scott Boras factor needs to be talked about here too. He will opt Arod out and know he can get 20+ guaranteed anyway as worse case scenario. Boras also has very close ties with Theo in Boston. They have Varitek, Dice-K and recently Drew with him along with possibly others i can't think of. He has a good history with Boston and that means alot when it comes to Boras. Don't forget, he had a deal done with Boston for Arod once already. That tells me Boston is VERY possible again.

I agree with that. But I think he has to play nice with the Yanks as well as they will also be contenders no matter what is some of his larger clients as well. Can't put all his eggs in one org. But you point is very valid
