Sox knew this going into the season, that he couldn't pitch consecutive days. It was a calculated risk when they moved him to the pen late in the Spring.

This is what happens when you take a closer and make him a set up man then hope he will be just as good. Gagne is a closer and should of void the deal and only gone to a team where he would of been the closer. And in games like this he still isnt his old self cause he knows Saturday he will be back in the setup role. Just like when you take a great set up guy and put him in a closer role he gets rocked 90% of the timeTHINK BLUE

Guys like Jenks, Gregg, Jones and others pitch 3 days in a row, both legs of a DH........this is just utter bullshit.......you have the most dominating closer in the game and can only use him half of the games?

I respectfully disagree with you. A true set up guy goes about 2 innings tops and so does closers sometimes. Pitching is mental I agree, but if hes got it hes got it no matter what role he starts off in. He hasnt really been proven this year in any role! That is the problem there.There is something wrong with him and the BOSOX shouldve detecting this before the trade. Also I hated this guy when he was a starter for the Dodgers an a long reliver those first few years he really did suck. They made him the closer and he was AWSOME lights out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but for him I really think he can only be a closer not a setup man. So poor Boston fansTHINK BLUE
