Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy, who pleaded guilty this week to felony betting charges, will point the finger at other officials as he cooperates with federal authorities in a betting probe, ESPN reported Friday.
Donaghy will give prosecutors as many as 20 names of other NBA officials and will detail their participation in gambling activity, ESPN reported. The specifics of the gambling allegations are reportedly believed to include betting in casinos, which referees are banned from doing by NBA regulations.

Other referees said Donaghy acted alone.
"As far as we know, the misconduct was isolated to one individual, and we'll stand by that until proven otherwise," National Basketball Referees Association director Lamell McMorris told ESPN.com. "We'll review whatever information Tim Donaghy alleges, but as far as we're concerned, the only person whose conduct has been proven wrong is Tim Donaghy.”

Former NBA official Tim Donaghy will reportedly give federal prosecutors information that will implicate other referees in some forms of gambling activity as part of his cooperation with government officials.
The offenses might not include any criminal activity, but could draw the ire of NBA commissioner David Stern, who has insisted the Donaghy situation was that of a "rogue, isolated criminal."
A report on 1050 ESPN Radio in New York said Donaghy will give prosecutors as many as 20 names of other NBA officials and will detail their involvement in some form of gambling activity. The specifics of the gambling allegations are reportedly believed to include betting in casinos.
"As far as we know, the misconduct was isolated to one individual, and we'll stand by that until proven otherwise," National Basketball Referees Association director Lamell McMorris told ESPN.com's Chris Sheridan. "We'll review whatever information Tim Donaghy alleges, but as far as we're concerned, the only person whose conduct has been proven wrong is Tim Donaghy. We're dealing with truth, not hearsay, and the truth is that the only person who has pleaded guilty to any kind of wrongdoing is Tim Donaghy."
NBA spokesman Brian McIntyre said the league had received no information regarding the possibility of other officials being investigated.
On Friday, Donaghy spoke to the New York Daily News.
"I'm very sorry about what happened," he said outside his home. "I'm not going to say anything beyond that. This is an ongoing case -- I can't say anything else."
The NBA's collective bargaining agreement with the officials bans gambling by referees, although there is one exception -- officials are allowed to go to the racetrack and bet on horses during the offseason.
Donaghy, who pleaded guilty on Thursday and was released on $250,000 bond, faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced Nov. 9 for conspiracy to engage in wire fraud and transmitting betting information through interstate commerce. He also must pay a $500,000 fine and at least $30,000 in restitution to the government.

I read an article the other day that a ref who is retired said that he knows for a fact there are other or were others who have GAMBLING problems. The one game and series he talked about was the Jazz - Bulls Finals in 98 where the ref had money on the Bulls and Bulls to win the series and he worked the 6th game and 1 other game that series. Both Bulls wins by close Marks. The ref said that MJ defeently pushed off and that the play before he definly fouled Karl Malone when he stole the ball. And the ref was the base line offical and didnt make the call and was the top offical on the final shot by MJ and never made the call. The ref collected on both bets and today is still refing games.
I also remember a call or two where they took a three pointer away from the Jazz that was well shot before the time had expired. And in 97 they gave Toni Kukoc a 3 pointer to end the 3rd that was way after the buzzer and red light. This ref listed about 20 different games in which he could recall where he knows the line was controlled by refs.
We see that a NBA ref was caught but who is to say that College refs arent doing the same thing to earn a little extra cash and what about the NFL and College Football refs too. How many times in the past have you been back doored by some stupiod call by an offical that gave a team another set of downs or two meaning less free throws with .2 tenths of a sec. on the clock or the one that pisses me off is the one where the ref doesnt call a foul when the team is fouling with 3-4 sec. left and the line was with in 1 point or so. It makes me wonder more now then ever whos screwing with my money. Not just those Kids anymore in colleges geting paid by a bookie. But maybe a ref now too???
I Had A Feeling This Would Happen.but 20!!! The Nba Might Not Recover.
TFan why don't you think they will recover? Clean it up and move on---I would think...There may be some doubt for awhile and be under a lot of scrutiny--but this may be good not just for the NBA but all sports..
Not questioning you at all and your comments...Just wondering what the reasons are.

This will hurt vegas more then it will hurt the NBA I think
As a lot of you know, I have been saying for years that the NBA is suspect and many times with Lakers games;all of this coming up now does not surprise me one bet.
I will go a step further and say that it wouldn't surprise me eother if Stern bet on games himself at times with a "little help of his friends."
