There a bunch of us on the Phillies tonight so thought I would start a thread to root them on as I am at work until 10 PM and need something to do so......
In baseball, a team just tries to win as many series as possible throughout the year....2/3 and sweeps get you into the playoffs....there is an immense amount of emphasis put into the staring pitcher when it comes to capping baseball...once he is finished for the day it then becomes a bull pen coin flip.....if a game is tied with both starting pitchers out of the game then you pretty much just have to cross your fingers and hope the team out hits the other teams bullpen....this is way to frustrating and stressfull in the long run....with a league that plays 6/7 days per week....lets say the are losing in the first game of the series it is only natural for players to have a "were just gonna have to get em the next two (or three) and try to win the series" attittude....this is what I dont like because If I have them to win that night (not the series) and I dont care if they win the series at this point cause I need them to score some runs and comeback in this specific game and win tonight ONLY!!! That is not the attittude and effort level I want them to have. If anything I think the best way to be succesfull in betting MLB in the long run is to bet who will win the series because at least this way you know that you are putting your money on the effort and attitude that THEY ARE THINKING....that is why I LOVE betting on football....you play ONCE per week...you have all week to plan and prepare so you know the effort level will be there....if you lose typically it could have been the other team just out-played the other or luck didnt work out in your favor (fumbles, penalties or whatever) but at least you know they gave their best effort. This is one of the reasons why I ABSOLUTELY NEVER bet NBA in the past. When it comes to betting I am sure that most of us hope that the team we have money on will give it their all and play to the best of their ability and with NBA and MLB you do not see this on a day in and day out basis and this just drives me insane. With NHL they play their hearts out and also I like capping it because I know more about it then any other sport so I feel that puts me at a bit of an advantage but its not QUITE AS much effort as football players put in cause they play ONLY ONCE A WEEK not 3 times a week like NHL. Hopefully you can make some sense of all this rambling cause I feel it makes a ton of sense IMO....
