Cash, this guy is terrible with the bullpen, terrible with the bench, terrible with the starting line-up

THE MEDIA WANTS TO KILL HIM

last week after a loss , the media was asking him why the hell he did not pinch hit with Joe Vitiello whi is hitting lefties at 0.340 this year

he replies, " Man I went brain dead for a while, and simply botched that one"

when asked why he did not start Todd Zeile (who had a great series against the Phils) in Florida in Game 1 and replaced him with Jaime Carrol, he replied, "its been a while that Jaime has not played and we wanted him to get some action"

he is so bad with the bullpen - - - HE ALWAYS GOES WITH HUNCHES:angryfire :angryfire :angryfire

die hard expo fan here and this guy has played a large part in taking us out of this race again.

i don't agree necessarily about getting on his case last night..shneider has had some very big hits this year and with guzman as your back up catcher i think people are going overboard on this one.but bringing in carrol in game 1 of the marlin series after he had helped botch the game in los angeles a week earlier was an atrocious move that completely swung the momentum out of this team, and his handling of the pen this year has been bad in general.

the carroll move has to be onew of the biggest managerial blunders in all of baseball this season.brutal

            baseball nut,

i live in the mountain sights area...just out side of t.m.r. near blue bonnets, though i spend half my time in st-henri whrere all of my friends live.

i agree he could have used vitiello in that spot..it is definitely open to second guessing but remembering schneider's huge 2 run double against these same phillies last week it just doesn't bother me THAT much to tell ytou the truth.

now the carrol move..THAT had me incensed.i honestly could not believe that move..it defies all logic and any sense of reasoning.robinson and asswipe biddle have just killed us the last 2 weeks.you know as well as i how volatile and streaky this team is...blowing game 1 in florida in that matter set the tone for this entire abysmal road trip;i honestly said to mybuddy after that game they could quite possibly lose all 6 games after that.

A lot of people will disagree but I don't like bobby cox. He has a lot of talent around him and has had very good pitching coaches. Not to mention he's a heavy drinker and a wife beater.

                      Bobby Cox

BC, I completely agree with you. When I saw the title of this thread I immediately thought of Bobby's genius move of bringing lefty Charlie Liebrandt in to pitch to Kirby Puckett in Game 6 of the 1991 World Series.

I was sitting in a sportsbook with a Braves ticket at the time and started heading toward the door as soon as I saw what Bobby had done.

I seem to recall Bobby's blunders also played a big part in Toronto blowing a 3-1 series lead in the 1985 ALCS, with a better team, IMO, than either of the Blue Jays' WS teams in '92 and '93.

I think he's got something on Turner or Shuerholz and that's how he keeps his job. You sure don't want money on his team in post-season.

I don't see other teams anywhere as much as BoSox, but I would rate Grady D or C minus at best.

                          Nut,
You know I am a huge Expos fan and I must agree that Frank Robinson is the worst.

Sometimes I think that he is managing from the commish's office (they surely do not want the Spos in the playoffs).

Great example was last night in leaving Vazquez in with 2 out and the bases loaded in the 8th. Tired and the bullpen has held up pretty good recently. Logic choice: Go to the pen.

Robinson's choice: Leave him in and watch a double off the wall.

Bobby Cox is not too far behind. He just has the talent that hides his managerial flaws.
Am I the longest tenured BC member?

Surprisingly, no one has mentioned Hargrove. Even though he's dealt a bunch of youngsters and blue chippers, his decisions are pathetic. Micromanages when he doesn't need to, then sits on his hands while his starter has lost 8 mph on his fastball during the game. And to have 2 straight years of the most horrible finishes in baseball is unreal. Even if your team is out of the hunt, it's up to the manager to still motivate.
