There's no excuse for the best team in baseball, but the Royals are now 12-7 in their last 19 and only 2 back of the White Sox. With the young talent they have, that's conceivably a .500 team as early as next year.

It just goes to show you how perception can change.
I took my wife to the Monday game(the 4-0 whitewash by Sox with Gabbard) and told my wife after the game that the players on KC overall reminded me of a minor league team, and that a good number of times when they win, it is because the other team simply takes them too lightly;what a difference a couple of days can make.

That can be especially true for a young team. Guys like Butler and Gordon would be top prospects for any other team, but they would also still be honing their skills in the minors. So in many ways they are a minor league team, but I wouldn't want to be playing them right now.

They have actually played under .500 for the last 7 weeks. They had a great 7 weeks and now have been terrible. But because the Yankees have been worse, no one has paid attention. Now it all changes.

Imo, Sox have major issues with their line-up. They have the best pitching in the AL East but their bats blow. My glas sis always half-empty, so I think Pedroia, Lowell and Youkilis come back to Earth and with Ortiz beaten up, who knows if he will end up with 'Big Papi numbers' at the end of the year. Manny has no one to protect him in the line-up.

I am very worried about this Boston team. But it will make for a great September!
