  • Question for Yankee Fans(or anyone with baseball knowledge)

I understand there are player's managers out there. I also understand that Rivera is old and achy. Can someone please explain how you can pay a guy $10 million a year like Rivera gets and allow him to pitch 2 times in the past 2 weeks. The man has thrown 2.2 innings since June 11th. These came on two outings, 1 inning 5 hits 2 runs and 1.2 innings scoreless.

I do not understand why Torre puts the same guys in the same situations day in and day out. Scot Proctor is one of the most over used relievers out there. Its not even like the guy is reliable. I just do not understand how it is that a Professional baseball player can not be called on to throw more than 2.2 innings in 2 weeks. Maybe someone can explain to me how you do not bring in your closer as I see happen so many times to keep the game tied in the 9th. Just because you are not winning is no excuse.

In my honest opinion, and I hate the Yankees with a passion, I truly believe Torre needs to go. That will not be the solution to their problem, but it is a start. The Yankees need role players, not egos. They need to trade a super start, most likely eat some contract, and trade for someone who would be happier moving a runner over for a chance at a win than trying to crack a homer to gain the credit for himself. They need bullpen help desperately as the starters have not been as bad as one would imagine. When 1 of your most used relievers is 1-5, you can not imagine why they are 11.5 games out with a $200 million payroll.

Torre needs to be tossed on his butt and bring in Girardi. Please do not stopp to Mattingly, the man has no experience. Let Girardi take this team over and run it with an iron fist. Take nothing from these overpriced babies who would rather save themselves for commercials and broadcasting spots than lay out to take away a cheap hit. Guys that can not go out there and do their job sicken me. Imagine if we didnt show up to work for a couple weeks. We would be in the poor house waiting for soup on a line somewhere. Either let Rivera do his job, close out games you are ahead and keep you in the tight/tied games and give you a shot to win, or put him on the DL and bring up someone willing to do what they are paid for.

Simply put, PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES SICKEN ME AND PROVIDE NO TYPE OF ROLE MODEL/LEADERSHIP AS THEY ARE EXPECTED TO!

Managers are afraid not to go "by the book." They know if they mess up doing what they are "supposed" to do, then they can say they did what they should have. They don't want to feel the wrath of going out of a limb and it blowing up, even if it might be the right thing to do.

See to me thats pure bullshit. Players and Managers are both supposed to do whatever they can to try to ensure a victory. To me Torre has not been doing that. Being player loyal is ok, but he takes it too far. He over uses guys and even if they made the playoffs, that bullpen would be so dead they would not be able to pick up the ball.

All I hear is they have so many pitching prospects they can not afford to trade. Well then why sign a 40+ year old Clemens to $26 million? Why not bring up and start to groom a replacement for Rivera? Why sign a 35+ year old Pettite to such a huge contract? They have the hitting to bailt out any pitcher on any given night. I just do not understand baseball I guess.
